How to Open Vitalis’ Basement Door in Hell is Us

As a gamer venturing into the early realms of “Hell is Us,” my primary objective will be tracking down Remi’s parents. One of the first significant locations you’ll explore on this journey is the residence of Vitalis, the blacksmith in Jova Village. This place won’t just contribute to the storyline but also offer a tantalizing glimpse into the kinds of brain-teasers you’ll face throughout the game.

The main puzzle I encountered during my visit was nestled within Vitalis’ basement. To access this hidden treasure, you’ll need to crack a door code. This guide will walk you through finding that elusive code and show you exactly how to open the door to Vitalis’ basement in “Hell is Us.

Where to Find Vitalis’ Basement Door Code in Hell is Us

Cars and Numbers:

In the opening act of “Hell is Us“, Victor hands over the key to Vitalis’ house, which is positioned right opposite the Jova Village Forge. Upon entering the residence, you’ll be tasked with locating three particular items before making your way downstairs to access the basement.

To begin with, the initial item you’re looking for can be found on the left side of the child’s room once you’ve entered through the front door. Look up towards the top drawer of the dresser, and you’ll spot a bright yellow round object – that’s it! The item you want is a photo of a child in a green train car, enclosed within a box. Go ahead and gather it up.

The next thing you should look for can be found in one of the rear storage areas, sitting atop a petite side table. Grab the glowing yellow object, and you’ll notice it’s a picture depicting two youthful individuals along with a red automobile.

To locate the upcoming item, follow the path leading you to the lower levels, specifically the basement. Keep an eye out for a distinctive green boxcar as you descend the stairs. On its side, you’ll spot the number 13. Make sure to recall this number.

As you make your way towards the ladder heading down to the basement, take note of the locked chest situated on your right side. Investigate the chest, and discover that it was designed to be activated by your Heirloom Necklace. Pick the necklace from your inventory, and the chest will magically unlock. Upon opening it, you’ll uncover a poignant photograph featuring a mother, her child, and a vibrant red toy car.

Basement Door Code Solution:

After gathering the three photographs, make your descent via the ladder into the basement. Navigate towards the spacious room boasting a brightly lit wall. In this area, you’ll notice distinct outlines of empty frames that should be hanging on the wall.

Engage with the area on the left side, and you’ll notice that each image aligns with a specific spot on the wall. Arrange them according to this sequence:

Click on the space on the left, and you’ll find that every picture corresponds to a certain place on the wall. Organize them in this particular arrangement:

  • Young Couple
  • Mother & Son
  • Boy in Green Car

In essence, every picture you observe displays a number on the vehicle, except for the last one. That’s why I emphasized the green boxcar when you were going down the stairs because the basement door code is formed by arranging the same set of numbers found in the photos in a linear fashion.

Vitalis’ Basement Door Code is:

  • 321713

As a gamer, I’d say, “I punch in the code on that keypad next to the mysterious door to crack this puzzle. Once inside, there are some intriguing items waiting for me.
