Kicking off his career at LucasArts, Schafer went on to establish Double Fine in 2000. Their inaugural game, Psychonauts, was launched in 2005, garnering positive reviews from critics but selling fewer copies than expected.
When Double Fine encountered troubles with certain publishing partners, they negotiated a helping hand from Microsoft.
