In the game Hollow Knight: Silksong, each crest alterates Hornet’s attack mechanics and offers distinct tool slots. This implies that when players pick up a fresh crest, they will need to uncover all the slots within this new crest, regardless of having already unlocked the slots on their prior one.
To optimize their playstyle effectively in Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s crucial for players to gather all the available Crests since they have a significant impact on combat and platforming. Among these Crests, you can encounter the Crest of the Reaper around a few hours into the game. The guide below provides its specific location.
How to Get the Reaper Crest in Silksong
Players need to advance through the game, eventually arriving at the significant location called Greymoor. Upon reaching this spot, head left towards the Halfway Home Bench, ensuring to engage with it as you’ll frequently use it for exploration across the entire region and returning to the boss room.
To proceed from the Halfway Home bench, turn left again, and an encounter awaits. Defeat the enemies in the room to move on and continue left. Disregard the enemies outside and veer further left into the tower. At present, your objective is to advance even further left, but that’s currently impossible as the door is locked. Instead, ascend the tower keeping the left side close for exit, then drop all the way down to reach the lever. This will open the gate for you.
Doing this makes it so you don’t have to climb the tower again when revisiting this place.

Currently, directly below and slightly to your left, there’s an entrance that descends into the Moorwing boss arena, but for now, let’s focus on another area. Instead, make your way towards the central section on your left side. You’ll encounter some elevated platforms you need to climb up, and eventually, you can enter this location to discover the Chapel of the Reaper.

Navigate toward the right to find a mobile platform accompanied by spinning gears. Leap and dart across platforms to avoid the rotating gears, as they can cause harm. It’s possible to bounce on these spiky gears (Pogo style), but it’s generally not advisable, particularly if you are carrying the starting Crest.
Upon ascending to the higher level, you’ll encounter groups of foes that spawn in singles or twos. This part can be frustrating, but don’t worry, they’re familiar adversaries you’ve faced before, so you’ll likely know how to handle them. After defeating them, proceed further to discover a corpse where you can activate the ‘Bind’ button. Doing so will grant you the ‘Reaper Crest’. This item enables you to attack with powerful, sweeping strikes and also extract extra Silk from enemies.
After climbing up, you’ll face waves of enemies that appear one or two at a time. Although it might get annoying, remember these are foes you’ve battled before, so you can use your past experiences to strategize. Defeating them will lead you to a dead body with an interactive Bind button. Pressing this button rewards you with the Reaper Crest, which empowers you to strike heavily with arcing slashes and reap extra Silk from opponents.
- This crest has two Red, two Yellow, and two Blue Tool Slots same as the starting crest.
