This article contains spoilers from Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Naruto Uzumaki plays a significant role in the “Boruto” series, and he is arguably the franchise’s most beloved character. Many viewers tune into “Boruto” specifically because of Naruto Uzumaki’s presence. However, despite his popularity, some fans have expressed disappointment with how the “Boruto” series has portrayed him, feeling that it undervalues both his importance and power within the series.
In the world of Boruto, Naruto Uzumaki remains powerful, even earning the reputation of being the strongest ninja currently alive. However, as the narrative unfolds, there’s a noticeable decline in Naruto’s strength, often referred to as a gradual reduction or weakening. The creator of Naruto, Kishimoto, has disclosed Naruto’s power level in Boruto, and it’s clear that post his separation from the power of Kurama, he’s significantly less formidable compared to his earlier days.
Naruto Uzumaki’s New Power Level Is Lower Than Before
Naruto Lost The Power Of Kurama

- Naruto beat Isshiki Otsutsuki
- Kawaki eventually sealed him away
In my perspective, it’s undeniable that Naruto Uzumaki had reached an unprecedented level of strength by the end of his own tale. Even decades later, during the Boruto era, Naruto continues to be renowned for his immense power. However, the battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki marked a significant shift. Here, Naruto Uzumaki unleashed what could be described as the zenith of all powers – the Baryon Mode. This was an exhilarating development in the story, yet it came with its own perils, ultimately resulting in the loss of Kurama. The loss of Kurama weakened Naruto Uzumaki significantly, a fact confirmed by Kishimoto himself within the narrative. Immediately after losing Kurama, Naruto’s power began to decline noticeably, leaving him a mere shadow of his former self.
I’ll make you eat your words, don’t forget that. — Naruto Uzumaki to Jigen
The situation reached a critical point where Naruto Uzumaki found himself unable to protect himself against the Kara members. Consequently, Kawaki intervened and sealed Naruto off, intending to resolve all significant threats first, such as Boruto Uzumaki.
Naruto Will Return Stronger Than Before
Naruto Uzumaki Will Gain New Powers In Boruto

From where I stand as a die-hard fan, it’s clear that, when it comes to Naruto’s power level in Boruto, he’s no longer the top dog. The peak of his current power is without a doubt his Sage Mode. Sadly, this means that compared to his strength during the Fourth Great Ninja War, he’s significantly weaker now.
Come, Otsutsuki! I’ll show you what true resolve is. — Naruto Uzumaki

It’s well understood by fans that when Sasuke Uchiha reappears in the Two Blue Vortex, he’ll without a doubt grow even stronger. This is mainly due to the fact that Sasuke had previously demonstrated immense power, enough to snatch Code’s eye from him in battle. It’s also worth mentioning that Sasuke and Naruto Uzumaki have a unique relationship where their strength levels tend to correspond with each other. Consequently, when Naruto returns, it’s safe to say he’ll reach unprecedented power levels.
The next chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will be released on September 20, 2025. It’s scheduled to go live at 10 AM Eastern Standard Time or 3 PM Coordinated Universal Time. Fans can read this chapter for free, officially, on either the Manga Plus or Shonen Jump apps.
