A Legendary Anime Even Bigger Than Demon Slayer Is Officially Coming Back

This article contains some spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen.

Currently, the anime community is abuzz with excitement over Demon Slayer, particularly following the release of its highly anticipated film, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza’s Return. This movie has been shattering records wherever it’s been released, and it appears the buzz surrounding it is far from subsiding. However, Demon Slayer may soon face competition as Jujutsu Kaisen is set to return as early as November with a new film, and shortly after, with a new season, potentially stealing the limelight away from Demon Slayer.

Demon Slayer is Big Right Now, But Jujutsu Kaisen is Returning

  • JJK Movie Will Be Released In November
  • JJK Season 3 Will Be Released January 2026

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 – Akaza’s Return was anticipated to be successful, but some viewers questioned if it could outshine Demon Slayer’s previous record-breaker, Mugen Train. However, the Infinity Castle film seems poised to surpass it, a feat that might occur quite rapidly, particularly after its global release in countries like the USA.

While things are going well for Demon Slayer, there’s some exciting news on the horizon for Jujutsu Kaisen fans. During a live event, it was announced that not only is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 set to premiere in January 2026, but the series will also be getting a new movie in November this year – just a few months away! This film is going to recap the Shibuya Incident from Jujutsu Kaisen and will even include the first two episodes of Season 3. With both Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen being massively popular among fans, it’s always been a topic of debate which series reigns supreme. But with this new development, competition for Demon Slayer is certainly heating up!

Can Jujutsu Kaisen’s New Movie Beat Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle?

JJK’s Anime Will Surpass Demon Slayer, But Beating The Movie Is Impossible

Upcoming in a few months is a new Jujutsu Kaisen film, leading fans to ponder if it could surpass the Infinity Castle movie. However, that outcome seems unlikely since the new JJK movie merely reassembles scenes from the Shibuya arc, which were already presented in Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen. It lacks fresh content beyond early access to the first two episodes of the Culling Game. Consequently, it fails to match the caliber of a Demon Slayer original movie like Infinity Castle or even Mugen Train.

In order for JJK to truly challenge Demon Slayer’s popularity, it requires a well-crafted cinematic adaptation, which could prove challenging to produce. A highly anticipated showdown between Gojo and Sukuna might shatter Japanese Box Office records or at least come very close. However, whether the studio will actually create such a movie is uncertain. Given that the battle concludes in a tragic manner, it would be difficult to provide a satisfying resolution without complicating the narrative.

The Demon Slayer Mugen Train film has already been released in Japan, and it’s expected to hit cinemas worldwide on September 12. For those who can’t wait for the movie, they can catch up on the story by reading the manga available on Manga Plus. Regarding the anime version, there are currently four seasons available. You can stream all of them on Crunchyroll. However, the rest of the series will be turned into movies, and you’ll have to wait for their theater releases in your respective countries to watch them.
