In gaming terms, these rifts serve as an alternative firing method, where players need to direct a beam at them to advance. The visuals are stunning and engaging, with landscapes and items appearing and reshaping reality to generate new paths. However, in practice, it often reduces to locating the ideal position or angle and altering the scenery according to instructions. Similarly, this concept is applicable to combats since it seldom interacts significantly during fights, though it had the potential to introduce an exciting dynamic and make a greater impact.

In this game, players could not only alter the environment using the time manipulation mechanic but also employ it offensively against enemies, either rapidly aging or de-aging them as part of a strategic attack.
Although it might have been challenging for Bloober Team to incorporate a similar design without affecting the delicate equilibrium of “Cronos: The New Dawn”, they could have possibly introduced some key battles that heavily relied on time manipulation. These battles could have required players to dodge a formidable boss or a large mob, while strategically aligning rifts in such a way to overcome them. Currently, while the time manipulation concept in “Cronos” is intriguing, it seems like it could have been more fully integrated and developed further.
