Whitebeard was once a mighty Yonko and the strongest man globally within the realm of One Piece. He led the formidable Whitebeard Pirates, pirate crew recognized universally for their fearsome reputation. Perched atop his band of pirates, he stood supreme among them all. In his role as captain, he was an immensely powerful figure who wielded the most potent Paramecia Devil Fruit, Gura Gura no Mi.
With this fruit, he had the ability to summon earthquakes whenever he desired, and moreover, he was exceptionally skilled in using Haki. He owned all three forms of Haki, including an advanced level of Conqueror’s Haki, which placed him among the most powerful Haki users within the world of One Piece. During his voyages at sea, Newgate engaged in countless battles against formidable opponents, yet none could overcome the fearsome figure once referred to as Whitebeard.
Gol D. Roger
The First Person To Be Called Pirate King
- Devil Fruit: No
- Haki: Yes
For quite some time, Roger served as a formidable adversary to Whitebeard. In the course of their many escapades, they engaged in multiple confrontations, which eventually led them to admire each other’s abilities. One instance of their battles was depicted during the Wano Country arc, where Roger and Whitebeard locked horns, a fight that left even Oden astonished by their immense strength. Despite being enemies at sea, both men held deep respect for one another.
Crocodile
Former Member Of The Seven Warlords of The Seas

- Devil Fruit: Yes
- Haki: Yes
Originally, Crocodile appeared as a villain in the series, but now he’s a significant character, being a member of Buggy’s pirate crew. In his early days, just like every other pirate, he was green behind the ears. However, he managed to make a name for himself and even dared to face off against Whitebeard himself. Unfortunately, the specifics of this confrontation remain unclear, but it is known that Crocodile suffered a crushing defeat at Whitebeard’s hands.
Blackbeard
One Of The Yonko

- Devil Fruit: Yes
- Haki: Yes
Blackbeard embarked on his path to infamy as a notorious pirate following his consumption of the Yami Yami no Mi. Through numerous battles and confrontations, he ultimately clashed with Whitebeard, coveting his Devil Fruit. Their showdown initiated in Marineford, yet was brief due to Whitebeard’s swift victory over him, using merely 2-3 strikes, thus giving Blackbeard a firsthand experience of the might of a Yonko.
Monkey D. Garp
Hero Of The Marines

- Devil Fruit: No
- Haki: Yes
Garp is a renowned character, often paired with Sengoku, commanding the Marines during the period of Gol D. Roger. He gained recognition for repeatedly cornering Roger. However, he also engaged in battles against Whitebeard, an individual Whitebeard frequently mentioned. Similar to Roger, Whitebeard was a pirate the Marines were after, indicating numerous confrontations between them, though these encounters haven’t been depicted in the series.
Akainu
Most Ruthless Admiral

- Devil Fruit: Yes
- Haki: Yes
In the Marineford saga, many formidable characters were introduced to viewers, one of whom was Marine Admiral Akainu. Known for his stoic demeanor and immense power, he is unwavering in his pursuit of justice for the Marines, a drive that sometimes leads him to take harsh actions against innocent people.
This individual showed no fear in engaging Whitebeard in combat and managed to inflict substantial harm upon him. However, upon the death of Ace, Whitebeard retaliated with immense force, severely beating Akainu to the point of near-obliteration for the murder of his son. He demonstrated an extraordinary level of power, destroying Marineford Island swiftly with a single powerful strike. Indeed, his rage was more than Akainu could bear alone.
The individual stood unafraid against Whitebeard in battle and caused considerable harm to him. Yet, after Ace’s demise, Whitebeard unleashed an unparalleled fury on Akainu, punishing him mercilessly for his actions. This fury proved devastating, as it led to the annihilation of Marineford Island in a matter of moments with a single destructive blow. Truly, Akainu was no match for Whitebeard’s uncontrollable wrath.
Portgas D. Ace
Former Second Division Commander Of Whitebeard Pirates

- Devil Fruit: Yes
- Haki: Yes
As soon as he embarked on his voyage, Ace quickly earned recognition as a stellar newcomer. Throughout his rookie phase, Ace harbored ambitions to single-handedly vanquish Whitebeard, known far and wide as the strongest man alive. Following his bout with Jinbei, Whitebeard was moved to engage in combat against the one seeking to usurp his title.
It wasn’t surprising that Ace lost the battle, and he ended up losing several more after that. However, his attitude towards him transformed significantly once he discovered his true identity. In the end, Ace chose to join the Whitebeard Pirates and eventually rose to a highly influential position within the pirate world.
Sengoku
The Great Buddha

- Devil Fruit: Yes
- Haki: Yes
Previously serving as the top marine commander, Sengoku the Buddha, was renowned for his leadership during the Marineford War against the Whitebeard Pirates. He was admired by not only his subordinates but also by famous pirates like Roger and Whitebeard. During Roger’s reign, Sengoku stood as an Admiral who fearlessly fought countless adversaries on the battlefield.
In the grand scheme of things I witnessed, even powerful figures like Whitebeard, once paired with Roger in potential peril for the World Government, were among my observed adversaries. Although their direct confrontation remains undisclosed to me, it’s suggested they engaged in numerous battles.
