Battlefield 6 Reveals New Battle Royale Details

The upcoming game, Battlefield 6, is offering fans a sneak peek into what its battle royale component could entail. Given that titles such as Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone have significantly elevated the battle royale genre, it came as no surprise when rumors surfaced suggesting that Electronic Arts (EA) might incorporate a similar mode into the next installment of the Battlefield series. As we approach the launch of Battlefield 6 in less than a month, more details about its features are starting to surface.

Before its official launch, the first-person shooter game, Battlefield 6, is already showing strong momentum. On the PlayStation store, pre-orders for Battlefield 6 are outperforming those for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Moreover, during its open beta phase, Battlefield 6 broke the all-time concurrent player count record on Steam by having at least 30,000 more users than Call of Duty. The beta has concluded, but a select group of gamers are still playtesting it through the exclusive Battlefield Labs program, providing continuous updates for those eagerly anticipating its release.

Battlefield Labs Reveals Details on Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale Map, Vehicles, and More

In a community update on September 10th, Battlefield Labs highlighted some distinct elements of their upcoming battle royale mode. One standout feature is the developers’ termed “the most lethal ring in BR,” which unlike other games, will instantly eliminate players upon contact, offering no escape or delay. With this unavoidable shrinking zone, expect intense non-stop action in the battle royale mode. As previously hinted by leaks of Battlefield 6’s battle royale gameplay, the environment will be destructible, and according to the update, destruction is prevalent throughout this game mode.

In addition to the devastation, this game mode showcases a vast, diverse map spanning multiple locations and points of interest. To facilitate navigation, numerous vehicles for transportation are scattered throughout the battlefield. Unlike the military vehicles hinted in a previous Battlefield 6 leak, these transports are primarily designed for movement, not combat against enemies. However, armored vehicles will also be accessible for teams to utilize strategically.

In terms of team compositions, the battle royale mode within Battlefield 6 will feature 25 teams, with each team comprising four players, totaling 100 participants. Although 100-player battles are typical in other battle royales, Battlefield 6 has decided to return to 64-player lobbies following the underwhelming 128-user games in Battlefield 2042. However, Electronic Arts (EA) has mentioned that this setup is only for testing purposes and may change before the complete game release.

Moreover, Battlefield 6’s battle royale will provide several resources to help teammates recover from elimination, beyond the revives and mobile redeploys offered by the Support class. Players will not be able to switch classes once the match begins, weapons and other supplies can be found scattered across the map, and squads will earn XP and rewards by completing missions.

As with all Battlefield Labs updates, it’s important to remember that these details are still subject to change. So, fans should keep in mind that the final game might appear and function differently. The anticipated release date for Battlefield 6 is October 10, 2025, so we won’t have to wait long to see how it turns out.
