Many video games feature protagonists who start off as well-known figures. Games based on licenses, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Batman Arkham series, are perfect illustrations of this. It’s enjoyable to assume the identities of celebrated characters, but it can also be thrilling to rise from humble beginnings and amass wealth during a gaming campaign.
Players can assess their progress by determining how much they’ve advanced throughout the game. Some games focus more on gaining notoriety, enhancing the gaming experience. On the other hand, certain characters may achieve a level of infamy rather than fame within their respective campaigns, such as in a “Grand Theft Auto” game. These instances encapsulate all facets of reputation in video games, inviting players to immerse themselves.
There will be some spoilers.
8. Brutal Legend
From Roadie To Rock God

Amongst Double Fine’s standout singular titles, “Brutal Legend“, featured an unassuming roadie named Eddie who harbored no lofty ambitions until he chanced upon a realm of heavy metal one day. Gradually, he embraced the mantle of a predestined hero, battle-ready to safeguard all that metal music holds dear.
The gameplay combined essential action game elements with real-time strategy (RTS), given its large scale battles. Brutal Legend concluded by transforming Eddie from a simple roadie into a mighty rock deity. Despite not having a sequel, the legend continues to endure due to backward compatibility.
7. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake
Becoming The Hero Erdrick

The video game titled “Dragon Quest 3: Seeds of Salvation” served as a precursor to the original Erdrick trilogy, which was released on the NES. More recently, a remake known as “Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake” has been developed, offering an updated version for contemporary gaming consoles that includes some additions to the story and adjustments to gameplay mechanics.
In this game, players initially take on the role of an unnamed character, who later gathers a group and assumes roles known as Vocations. The storyline follows a typical old-school RPG narrative where the protagonist embarks on a journey to become the strongest warrior and save the world. After vanquishing a malevolent ruler, the victor is bestowed the name Erdrick. Interestingly, a relative of this character stars in the subsequent game, adding to the prestigious Erdrick legacy.
6. Jeanne d’Arc
JRPG Joan Of Arc

In this context, let’s rephrase the given sentence to: “Jeanne d’Arc” is a tactical role-playing game for PlayStation Portable (PSP) developed by Level-5. This game reshapes the legends associated with Joan of Arc’s character. Initially, she appears in the game as Jeanne, a simple French villager, living an ordinary life. However, her tranquil existence is disrupted when demons, who are part of the English army, launch an assault on her village.
Through divine blessings, she metamorphoses into a legendary knight in the heat of battle, thereby reversing the situation. Known far and wide as Jeanne, she rallies her fellow Frenchmen, inspiring them to protect their homeland against both demonic forces and the English.
5. Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii
Luffy Would Be Jealous

In the game Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, the well-known figure from the Yakuza series, Goro Majima, is the main character. However, this story presents a twist as Goro’s status has been changed. Stricken by amnesia, Goro finds himself on an island close to Hawaii, which places him far from his home country of Japan, thousands of miles away.
Via various events, influence, and charm, Majima rapidly ascends to become a pirate captain. He then navigates the Hawaiian archipelago in pursuit of hidden riches. Gamers can boost their standing in Honolulu to enlist crew members for their pirate vessel, thus enhancing Majima’s renown further.
4. Marvel’s Avengers

In Marvel’s Avengers game, players can take on characters reminiscent of famous Marvel superheroes such as Captain America and Iron Man. Yet, the primary storyline revolves around a regular fan character, Kamala, assisting in reassembling the Avengers following a major event that causes them to disband.
The game primarily allows players to manage Kamala, a character with an exciting array of abilities, such as stretchy limbs that can serve as makeshift ropes for swinging, and powerful legs to smash robots into pieces. 3. Metaphor: ReFantazio
Become The King

As an ardent fan, I’d describe “ReFantazio” as a political game where the monarch unexpectedly passes away early on. However, his spirit lives on in the form of a blazing solar deity, proclaiming a global lineage of kings. The throne becomes open to any contender who manages to amass the collective voice of the populace, making it an exciting opportunity for all!
In this scenario, it’s Will, our key character, who steps into action, with his primary objective being to secure the throne for his ailing Prince. By completing the main storyline and optional missions, players can boost their standing and win the hearts of the people, making Will not just a protagonist but an iconic figure as well.

This newly introduced character, known as the “New Kid,” is chosen to partake in the fantasy RPG game that the children of South Park have imagined.
Though no specific name is assigned, the players rise to become the most powerful child in South Park, who is revered by all. Quite humorously, in the sequel, “South Park: The Fractured But Whole“, the New Kid is reduced back to a commoner once again.
1. Space Channel 5
From Reporter To Hero

Space Channel 5, a rhythm-based game hailing from the Dreamcast era, stands out a bit due to its unique premise. In
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but reminisce about that unforgettable climax where our beloved heroine, Ulala, takes a temporary defeat in the final battle. In this heartrending moment, it’s the citizens she’d saved who rally together, channeling their strength through music to breathe life back into her. It might seem a bit whimsical, even comical, but there’s an undeniable power in that scene – a testament to the trust and bond Ulala has formed by journey’s end.
