During the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 12, one of the less anticipated reveals was Pokemon Pokopia, which introduces farm and life simulation elements to the Pokemon universe. In Pokemon Pokopia, players step into the shoes of a Ditto character that can transform into human form. Players form relationships with various Pokemon and work alongside them to cultivate crops, construct buildings, create items, and engage in other activities. To make the most out of Pokemon’s foray into the farming simulator genre, it would be wise to incorporate elements similar to Stardew Valley.
An Affection System For Pokemon
In Stardew Valley, there’s an affection system for both town residents and farm animals. If we were designing a similar system in a hypothetical Pokémon world called Pokopia, it would incorporate elements from both. For instance, Ditto could interact with Pokémon by petting them and feeding their favorite foods, but also giving them gifts and spending quality time to build relationships, much like the protagonist can communicate with Pokémon in a way a regular trainer can’t.
A Dungeon Or Other Area For Combat And Exploration

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but appreciate how farming simulators offer more than just tending to crops – they often include action-packed adventure areas too! In the captivating world of Stardew Valley, players delve into the Mines and eventually the Skull Cavern, where we uncover hidden treasures and engage in thrilling battles against various creatures. Given Pokopia’s connection to Pokemon, it seems only fitting that it should feature a similar element – perhaps a dungeon inspired by the beloved Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games? How about Ditto, that versatile Pokemon, gathering a team of Pokemon companions for exploring and discovering resources and treasure together?
In-Depth Cooking System With Different Meal Effects

Food and cooking have played a significant role in the Pokemon series for many years, and it’s become even more prominent in recent titles like Sword and Shield’s curry-making and Scarlet and Violet’s picnics. To capitalize on this trend, Pokopia should incorporate a cooking system where players can prepare meals that offer various benefits to aid them with their farming and crafting duties. Berries, an essential component of the Pokemon series since its inception, could serve as the primary ingredients, but adding fillings from Paldea or Galar-style curries would add an exciting twist.
Some Form Of Fishing Mini-Game

In many farming simulation games like Stardew Valley and Rune Factory, fishing is often integrated as a mini-game. Similarly, it seems fitting to incorporate fishing in Pokémon Pokopia, given the variety of Water-type Pokémon available. The protagonist, possibly a Ditto, might find themselves catching common Pokémon such as Magikarp and Feebas before they lend a hand. Alternatively, they could fish for treasures like pearls or non-Pokémon ingredients for cooking, like seaweed, with the assistance of Water-type Pokémon.
A Seasonal Cycle And Limited-Time Events

In the charming life simulation category, many games often include brief, time-limited events and celebrations for players to join. Games like “Animal Crossing” follow the actual world’s calendar, while “Stardew Valley” has its own in-game seasons. In “Pokopia,” Ditto and their friends could celebrate various events during the ‘year,’ such as festivals dedicated to specific Pokemon types or regions.
Including a seasonal system in the game could enable players to encounter different forms of Pokemon such as Deerling or Castform. For instance, Castform could possibly manage weather conditions, triggering rainfall that also waters crops automatically. This seasonal mechanism could resemble games like “Animal Crossing” or have an integrated version akin to “Stardew Valley”. The latter option might make it easier for players to discover and enlist various Pokemon at a faster pace.
