As a dedicated fan, I can’t contain my excitement as I share this fantastic news: The entire trilogy of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be available on Xbox Series X and the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2! This confirmation comes directly from series director Naoki Hamaguchi, who has promised a wider reach for this beloved game.
The original Final Fantasy 7, often hailed as one of the best games ever made, has captivated countless players. Its current-gen remake has proven to be just as successful, and now more gamers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this incredible experience across a broader platform spectrum.
This announcement only amplifies my anticipation for the unforgettable journey that awaits us in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy!
Apart from enhancing its gameplay and graphics, the remake of the cherished title is expansive in nature, having been expanded into a trilogy instead of a standalone game. As such, although the first part was released in 2020, fans have yet to complete the story in this updated version. Square Enix has announced plans for the release window of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3, though the exact date remains undisclosed. However, there are more significant updates coming for fans to look forward to.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy Is Coming to Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch 2
Director Hamaguchi announced on September 12th that the entire “Final Fantasy 7 Remake” series is broadening its reach to significant platforms such as the Xbox Series X/S and the yet-to-be-released Nintendo Switch 2. While many gamers had anticipated this move since Square Enix previously confirmed that “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade” would be available on Xbox and Switch 2, they were unsure if the same applied to Parts 2 and 3 until now. Moreover, Hamaguchi’s tweet has clarified the exact arrival date of the first part on these platforms, with “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade” scheduled for release on Xbox and Switch 2 on January 22, 2026.
In the Square Enix post Hamaguchi quote-tweeted, there’s a link that provides additional information. When the new versions of Final Fantasy 7 Remake release, they’ll introduce a new mode called “Streamlined Progression.” This feature keeps players’ Health Points (HP), Mana Points (MP), Limit gauge, and Active Time Battle (ATB) gauge at maximum levels at all times. It also ensures that players will always deal 9999 damage. These changes make the game easier to play, making it more accessible for less experienced gamers. Despite already being one of the most beginner-friendly Final Fantasy games, this added accessibility strengthens its appeal as an excellent starting point for newcomers to the franchise.

It remains unclear if “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” and the third installment will be released on Xbox and Switch. However, at the Tokyo Game Show from September 25-28, Square Enix is showcasing “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.” There’s a possibility that the studio might reveal updates about the trilogy during the event. Fans should stay alert and monitor Square Enix’s social media accounts for any announcements.
