How To Cure Infection in Atomfall

In the game of Atomfall, you may encounter several types of detrimental conditions, or status effects. Some of these, like poison or bleeding, might seem familiar to RPG veterans. However, Atomfall introduces a distinct status effect called “Infected,” which presents unique consequences once it’s acquired by the player.

Dealing with an infection in Atomfall isn’t always straightforward because the symptoms may not be immediately apparent. This guide aims to explain the effects of the infection and provide solutions on how to cure it within the game.

What Is the Infected Status In Atomfall?

As the character ventures further into the isolated area known as the quarantine zone, they’ll gradually come across peculiar adversaries that have been tainted by the unusual influence of an enigmatic artifact named Oberon. For instance, among these enemies are the Ferals, which resemble zombies and lurk in odd clusters of blue vegetation. They will assault the character if they are seen or heard.

Additionally, there are Thralls that appear later in the game. They’re similar to Ferals but move slower and have more durability. When you’re attacked by these adversaries, a blue, triangular progress bar appears at the bottom right corner of your screen, above the health bar. If this meter is filled up entirely, the player will contract an infection.

As a gamer, when I venture into zones veiled by that eerie blue mist, I can feel the infection meter swelling rapidly, taking a toll on my character too. Often, you’ll notice sickly-looking flora in these areas, a clear sign of the spreading infection.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can tell you that one of these plants in the game transforms into a ticking time bomb. The closer you, the player, get, the more it pulsates ominously. If you don’t keep your distance, it will detonate, causing harm and increasing infection build-up.

When players contract the infection, a significant portion of their health is instantly reduced. This increased vulnerability makes them take higher damage from all types of attacks, making battles noticeably tougher. Furthermore, their heart rate stays above 120 beats per minute and rises faster during sprinting or close-combat situations.

Beyond these undesirable consequences, you’ll also begin experiencing unusual internal dialogues, akin to hearing voices within your mind. Characters within the game have previously encountered such voices instructing them. This suggests that an infection is widespread in Atomfall, and now it has affected you as well.

How To Cure Infection In Atomfall

Even though infection may appear lethal, rest assured that it will eventually disappear as the infection gauge shrinks. Yet, this disappearance process is gradual and might take approximately five real-world minutes. Given that players remain susceptible for quite some time during this phase, finding a more effective cure becomes crucial.

The solution materializes as a drinkable item known as an “Unusual Elixir.” Consuming this elixir will rid the player of their infection and provide them with short-term immunity against further infection accumulation. However, despite being available in certain late-game zones, these elixirs are scarce in the majority of areas during the early stages of the game. If you wish to acquire some, you’ll have to track down the recipe for the Unusual Elixir so you can produce them yourself.

Obtaining that recipe won’t be as simple as bartering some goods with a nearby vendor. Instead, you’ll have to sneak into the stronghold of an enemy cult known as the Druids. These enemies are skilled archers and melee fighters, relying on bows and close-combat weapons. They are remarkably accurate with their arrows and quick in hand-to-hand combat, making them formidable adversaries even without firearms.

How To Find The Strange Tonic Recipe In Atomfall

The Druid encampment resides within a fortress nestled in Casterfell Woods, specifically at the geographical coordinates 19.9 E, 84.2 N. The entrance to this fortress can be found at coordinates 20.6 E, 83.7 N. This will initially position the players within the lower realms of the Druids’ stronghold, where they’ll be observing peculiar rituals and wandering about. As they progress, players must battle their way upward through the castle, a challenging task given that it’s teeming with various Druids.

As I continue my ascent through the ancient castle, I find myself drawn towards a radiant chamber bathed in sunlight, its walls adorned with lush, verdant vines. Treading lightly to avoid any encounters with the Druids that may lie ahead, I cautiously move forward, always alert and ready to act if necessary. Eventually, I arrive at a room reminiscent of a scholar’s sanctuary, filled with desks and bookshelves brimming with knowledge waiting to be discovered.

Placing an item on your desk will be a recipe for a “Bowl of Spores and the Strange Tonic”. Master this recipe, and as a player, you can now concoct these tonics by gathering 4 Spores, 1 Chemical, 3 Glass, and 5 Herbs.
