As a Hollow Knight fan, I’m really excited about Silksong, and I’ve heard that getting all the tools is going to be tough! A lot of them are hidden behind seriously tricky platforming and hard boss fights. But from what I’ve seen, these tools aren’t just collectibles – they can actually make the game *way* easier later on, so it feels like you really *need* to find them if you want to stand a chance!
The Conchcutter is a red tool you can find in the second part of *Hollow Knight: Silksong*. It’s obtained by exploring certain areas within the Citadel. Here’s a guide to finding it and understanding how it works.
How to Get Conchcutter in Silksong
To obtain the item, players need to travel to the Sands of Karak. This area is north of Blasted Steps and requires the Clawline ability to reach. After defeating the Great Conchflies boss, you’ll find the Pinstress who will teach you Needle Strike. Then, use Clawline to ascend and finally reach the Sands of Karak.
Sands of Karak features many platforming challenges. You’ll need to explore thoroughly to reach the top, where you can strike the Stalactide. This will cause it to fall, creating a shortcut. To the left of the second Stalactide, you’ll find the arena for the Raging Conchfly boss.

Okay, so this fight is a must-do if you’re going for the Conchcutter achievement. This boss is *tough* because every single attack it does bypasses your usual defenses and hits you for full mask damage. And it gets worse! Once you start chipping away at its health, it’ll start summoning these little conflies all over the place. You’ll have to split your attention between taking down the main boss and dealing with these annoying, drilling minions. It’s a real juggling act!
An easy way to spot where everyone is coming from is to look for the smoke coming out.
Once you’ve defeated the boss, continue forward and enter the Coral Tower at the end of the Sands of Karak. You’ll find the Conchcutter inside, on the floor.
How Does the Conchcutter Work in Silksong?

This powerful tool bounces off walls and deals significant damage. The number of upgrades players have for their tool pouch determines how many of these Conchcutters they can use during a boss fight or against enemies. It’s particularly effective against bosses that remain stationary while attacking. When aimed and fired at a boss, the tool drills into them, inflicting continuous damage.
If you’re planning a build around this, you absolutely need to bring those two items with you. It lets you fire two venom-infused cones at once, which is awesome! And trust me, it makes certain sections way easier. I’m thinking specifically of platforming challenges like the ones in the Sands of Karak, where you need to grab the Crustnut for the Great Taste of Pharloom. There are always obstacles in your way, but the Conchcutter just slices right through them, making the whole thing a breeze. It’s a total game-changer!
