As an avid XDefiant player, I’m thrilled to hear that Ubisoft is addressing the community’s concerns regarding the Spiderbot ability in the upcoming patch. The DedSec faction’s signature gadget has been a source of frustration for many players due to its difficulty to counter. Although Season 1 brought new content and adjustments, it wasn’t enough to appease everyone, especially those who found the Spiderbot highly annoying.
XDefiant announces planned modifications to the Spiderbot skill set for the DedSec action, acknowledging its present challenge for opponents. The past few months have been eventful for XDefiant; it officially debuted towards the end of May following a bumpy production period. Despite the rocky road to release, the free-to-play shooter has proven to be a worthy addition to the gaming scene, amassing over 11 million players by late June.
Outside of being free to play, one of the stronger elements of XDefiant is how often it is updated both to address bugs as well as keep the experience feeling fresh with new content. Even as popular as XDefiant is, the game hasn’t been free of issues, with Ubisoft consistently releasing new patches to address problems and community-highlighted issues. In fact, XDefiant Season 1 brought a wealth of new content to the game, including the GSK faction based on Rainbow Six Siege, new maps, modes, and plenty more. The seasonal update also made plenty of gameplay related changes, though one of the faction changes made to DedSec apparently wasn’t enough to satisfy many players.
As a gamer in XDefiant, I’ve encountered the DedSec faction’s Spiderbot from the Watch Dogs franchise, and let me tell you, it can be quite irritating. This tiny robot attaches to enemies, obstructing their view for a brief moment, which in a fast-paced shooter like this, can mean the difference between survival and getting taken down. The annoyance level is high, and most players find themselves frustrated as they struggle to counteract this ability effectively.
XDefiant Plans More Spiderbot Changes Soon
One major development in the upcoming version of XDefiant is the player’s capability to dislodge Spiderbots attached to them. Initially, this functionality was unintentionally removed during the Season 1 update, but Ubisoft intends to reverse the change. The team plans to further investigate and simplify the process of detaching Spiderbots in future updates. Players have expressed enthusiasm for this feature, although some suggest alternative methods for dealing with the device beyond waiting for the right moment to strike it down with a melee attack. One popular suggestion is allowing players to grab and yank off the Spiderbots using the melee button.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but notice that Season 1 of XDefiant has encountered quite a few bugs, leading to some frustration among the player base. Players have taken to social media to express their concerns directly to XDefiant’s executive producer, Mark Rubin. The tension came to a head when one player labeled the game as rushed, prompting Rubin to encourage those who aren’t enjoying it to move on. One of the primary challenges in creating XDefiant was adapting the SnowDrop engine, initially designed for the third-person action RPG The Division, to suit the needs of a fast-paced first-person shooter.
