As a huge fan of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, I can’t help but feel disappointed by the current state of affairs regarding the Xbox 360 version of this classic game. Having grown up playing the sixth generation consoles, I remember being blown away by the graphics and immersive experience of the game when it was first released in 2005. The fact that it was based on Peter Jackson’s movie only added to my excitement.
Many people regard “Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie” as one of the top movie-based games, but finding a copy of the Xbox 360 version can be challenging these days. At its release, the Xbox 360 boasted an impressive library with exclusive titles like “Kameo: Elements of Power” and “Perfect Dark Zero,” as well as popular multi-platform games such as “Call of Duty 2,” “Need for Speed: Most Wanted,” and “Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie.”
As a fan, I’d describe it like this: I was thrilled when I heard about the release of “Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie” back in 2005. It came out just about a month before Peter Jackson’s epic film hit theaters! This game, directed by Michel Ancel, the brilliant mind behind the Rayman series and Beyond Good & Evil, was published by Ubisoft. The experience took players on an incredible journey through the movie’s storyline. The gameplay was a captivating blend of third-person action as King Kong and first-person perspectives as Jack Driscoll. It received mostly positive reviews upon launch and even earned several nominations for end-of-the-year awards, managing to win a few as well.
The Xbox 360 edition of “King Kong” offers an enhanced gaming experience with superior graphics and audio compared to its predecessors. Regrettably, playing this version today comes with a hefty price tag as the Xbox 360 marketplace no longer carries it. Secondhand copies can cost anywhere between $50 and $80, while just the disc is listed for approximately $45. In contrast, PS2 and original Xbox versions of the game are more affordably priced. However, the advanced visuals and achievement support in the Xbox 360 version make it a coveted choice among gamers.
King Kong Xbox 360 Prices Are Out of Control
Given the positive reception and financial success of “King Kong” in 2005 among critics and consumers, it’s plausible that a remastered or digital version of the game would garner significant interest on contemporary gaming platforms. Regrettably, due to licensing issues caused by its delisting, this possibility appears highly unlikely. Nevertheless, the improbable has occurred before in the industry, so there’s always a chance Ubisoft might find a way to bring “King Kong” back to modern consoles, much like they did with “Beyond Good and Evil.”
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie winning big at the 2005 Spike Video Game Awards! I was totally blown away by the stunning cast of characters in this game. Each one felt so real and authentic that I couldn’t help but be fully immersed in the experience.
For individuals eager to experience the Xbox 360 version of King Kong, despite its high cost, I’d like to inform you that this game is technically playable on contemporary Xbox consoles. Although the digital version of the game isn’t accessible through Xbox, the physical disc of King Kong for Xbox 360 is backward compatible. This means it can be enjoyed on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
