In 2021, FormaL announced his departure from Call of Duty and returned to Halo. This decision led him to win the HCS World Championship with OpTic. Now, during a live stream, FormaL shared his intentions to switch back to Call of Duty, specifically Black Ops 6.
Return of the King
FormaL’s career in Call of Duty progressed from Ghosts to Black Ops Cold War, during which time he earned a world championship title and multiple other championships, amassing approximately $800,000 in prize winnings. He became a well-known and enduring symbol of OpTic within the Call of Duty community, having remained loyal to the brand longer than any currently active player.
At Halo esports, FormaL has achieved remarkable success, claiming victory in three Majors and a Champs tournament. This latest accomplishment adds an impressive $347,000 to his earnings. Known as the best controller player in esports history, FormaL continues to be recognized with award nominations for his exceptional skills.
Formal shared during a live broadcast that he plans to compete at the highest level in Black Ops 6 upon its release in October, marking his comeback to the Call of Duty scene.

It’s uncertain to what degree FormaL will be allowed to rejoin the Call of Duty community. Some supporters of OpTic Texas have advocated against an immediate placement for him on their roster due to his past status. Instead, he could make a comeback through the Challengers circuit to demonstrate his ongoing skills worthy of the Call of Duty League. At present, this is just a possibility that may not materialize, but it’s the strongest hint we’ve had in years that FormaL intends to resume his career in Call of Duty.
The Halo Championship Series is facing challenges, despite an upcoming Major event. FormaL has the potential to qualify for this year’s HCS Championships, but he might switch to Black Ops 6 for the upcoming season instead.
