  • A Starfield player recreated The Jetsons flying car using the game’s shipbuilding mode.
  • Their original creation incorporates two Starfield mods, both of which can be downloaded free of charge on both PC and Xbox consoles.

As a huge fan of Starfield and The Jetsons, I’m absolutely blown away by what one player, L4westby, has accomplished in the game. Their recreation of The Jetsons‘ flying car is an engineering marvel that showcases the incredible versatility of Starfield’s shipbuilding mechanics.

One creative player in the game “Starfield” has successfully built a flying car reminiscent of the iconic vehicle from “The Jetsons” within the game. This remarkable achievement, showcasing exceptional engineering skills, sparked excitement among many fans and underscored the impressive flexibility of “Starfield’s” shipbuilding features when shared on social media.

Since the debut of “Starfield” in early September 2023, the ship builder in this space role-playing game has captivated numerous players. In the wake of its launch, a vast number of enthusiasts have designed intricate creations, frequently drawing motivation from well-known sources.

Another such design feat was recently achieved by Reddit user L4westby, who had managed to design a custom Starfield ship modeled after the flying car from The Jetsons, one of the most beloved Hanna-Barbera cartoons of all time. While the futuristic Jetsons family made use of a green spacecraft in the original run of the show in the early ’60s, the mid-’80s revival series changed the flying car to red. That second iteration was used as the basis for L4westby’s ship, which shares its role model’s saucer-like body featuring a transparent glass dome at the top. The form factor of the ship’s rear-mounted engine also resembles the wings that adorned the later versions of the flying car from ABC’s hit animated series.

Expanding on his creative work, L4westby shared insights into the construction of an impressive replica of “The Jetsons’ spaceship.” He achieved this using authorized Bethesda mods, namely Matilija Aerospace and DerreTech. These tools provide a rich selection of ship components to enhance the base game. Notably, these mods are accessible not just on personal computers but also on Xbox Series X/S consoles. They were introduced during Starfield’s unexpected June 2024 update, which included the launch of the Creations mod marketplace, along with other exciting features. Unlike some Starfield Creations that require payment, the ones employed in this design are available for free download across all platforms.

In explaining the role of different mods in building the “Jetsons” flying car replica in the game “Starfield,” L4westby shared that the Matilija Aerospace modification was employed for creating larger ship components. On the other hand, DerreTech add-on supplied the cockpit parts with an access door at the back. The player’s unique contribution expands the collection of awe-inspiring spacecraft designs generated by fans in this virtual universe.

From a devoted fan’s perspective, Bethesda’s past games have shown that mods can greatly extend their longevity. And just like those previous titles, Starfield has the potential to benefit from an active and creative modding community. Moreover, the developer isn’t planning on abandoning its latest RPG anytime soon. In fact, they’re currently developing the game’s first expansion, named Shattered Space, which is set for release in late 2024.
