During an interview with Game Rant, the actors discussed how their character, Jordan Li (played by London Thor and Derek Luh), faces significant challenges in Season 2. Jordan, who identifies as bigender, is released after ten months in a rehabilitation center only to find a world where Homelander has a strong following and hateful slogans like “Down with woke!” are commonplace.

Luh described the moment Jordan discovered they were going back to the outside world, and the shocking state it was in, as frightening. Thor concurred, adding that Jordan feels utterly hopeless and defeated by the world around them – it’s their lowest point.

Amidst the chaos, several characters discover inner resilience. Polarity, portrayed by Sean Patrick Thomas, is one of them. His superpowers take a physical toll, and he’s faced life-threatening consequences. Season 2 sees Polarity grappling with a changed world and the grief of losing his son, Andre, but he perseveres and tries to rebuild his life. Sean Patrick Thomas explained Polarity’s Season 2 arc as a journey of self-reinvention.

I believe these powers simply amplified who these people already were, based on their current life stage. For example, Polarity’s powers being deadly felt like a symbol of his growing inner corruption. As he reconnects with his morals and finds a better path, it’s possible his powers will change to reflect that.

Gen V’s Supes Are Willing To Fight For What’s Right

Jaz Sinclair, who plays Marie Moreau, and Lizzie Broadway, as Emma Meyer, are two of the students with superpowers at Godolkin University who are fighting to change things. Sinclair explains that Marie is driven to continue being a hero and protecting people, especially those who still support the fallen hero, Starlight. “Marie isn’t always perfect,” Sinclair says, “but she always has good intentions.”

Emma’s experiences at the Elmira Center deeply changed her, and now she’s taking a leading role in opposing the growing support for superheroes. According to Lizzie Broadway, Emma’s newfound determination comes from both her strong opposition to Homelander’s group and the loss of her friend, Andre Anderson. Broadway explained that Emma is driven by a desire to live up to the hero Andre believed she could be, a side of herself she hadn’t recognized before.

Season 2 of *Gen V* throws its characters into a scary and isolating new reality. However, the students at Godolkin University aren’t giving up. They’re determined to fight back against Homelander and challenge the idea that superpowered people are better than others.
