Xbox Game Pass Losing 5 Great Games Today

Highlights

  • Figment 2: Creed Valley and four more titles are leaving Xbox Game Pass on July 15.
  • All of the departing games boast either “Very Positive” or “Overwhelmingly Positive” user reviews on Steam.
  • Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have enough time to beat at least one of the soon-to-be-departing titles.

As an avid Xbox Game Pass subscriber with countless hours invested into exploring the service’s ever-evolving library, I can’t help but feel a pang of sadness as yet another wave of titles is set to leave the platform on July 15. The upcoming departures include five games that boast impressive user reviews on Steam: Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly, Figment 2: Creed Valley, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, The Wandering Village, and TOEM.

Starting July 15, Xbox Game Pass will no longer offer access to Figment 2: Creed Valley and four other titles. However, Xbox Game Pass subscribers have the opportunity to complete at least one of these games before they’re removed from the subscription library.

During the first quarter of 2024, Microsoft’s subscription service saw an average of 5.3 game removals each month. However, there was a significant uptick in Q2, with an average of 12 games departing monthly. The most substantial departure occurred in May 2024, when Xbox Game Pass bid farewell to a remarkable 14 games. This made May an unusual loss for the service.

The number of game removals from Xbox Game Pass continues to be consistent, with the upcoming departures including: “Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly,” “Figment 2: Creed Valley,” “Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion,” “The Wandering Village,” and “TOEM.” These five games, all having excellent user ratings on Steam with “Very Positive” or “Overwhelmingly Positive” feedback, will be taken off the Xbox Game Pass library on July 15. Based on past trends, they might depart around the end of the day Eastern Time, but Microsoft does not reveal specific departure times ahead of time.

As a long-time Xbox Game Pass subscriber and avid gamer, I’ve grown accustomed to the joy of having access to a vast library of games spanning various genres and titles. However, I recently came across some news that has left me feeling a tad disappointed.

As someone who has been an avid Xbox Game Pass subscriber for the past year, I must admit that this month has been quite unusual in terms of game removals. Normally, we only see titles being taken down every two weeks. However, things have taken a turn for the unexpected. On July 5 alone, we bid farewell to “Cricket 22,” and there are rumors of even more departures coming up around the 31st. This would amount to three waves of removals within a single month.
