As a dedicated Call of Duty: Zombies fan with years of gaming experience under my belt, I cannot help but feel awe-struck by the passion and dedication shown by these players. Traveling to real-life locations that inspired some of the most iconic maps in the franchise and playing the game on handheld devices right there is an immersive experience like no other.
Enthusiasts of “Call of Duty: Zombies” went the extra mile, visiting actual sites that served as inspiration for some of the game’s famous maps. Numerous images capture these devoted players engaging in intense zombie battles on location, providing a striking resemblance to iconic map settings for avid fans of this gory, ominous, and captivating game mode.
Initially introduced as a minor bonus following the completion of the campaign in “World at War,” “Call of Duty: Zombies” has since grown into a rich and intricate first-person shooter experience, expanding with each annual update. In “Modern Warfare 3,” players enter an expansive open world to battle hordes of zombies, facing missions and objectives instead of endlessly surviving the undead onslaught. Yet, some devoted fans yearn for the simpler times of traditional round-based zombie games, where they can fully immerse themselves in an uninterrupted gaming experience.
MaZerN, a Reddit user, fulfilled the longing of countless Zombies enthusiasts by visiting the actual site that served as inspiration for Black Ops 3’s Der Eisendrache map in Zombies mode. This map bears resemblance to Hohenwerfen Castle, an Austrian fortress constructed around a thousand years ago. The experience became even more captivating when the traveler carried along a portable gaming device, enabling them to engage in Der Eisendrache while physically present within the castle that formed the basis for the map.
Zombies Fans Travel To Real-Life Call Of Duty Maps
Reddit user Tattoophilosopher shared an identical thought, bringing their handheld device to the actual site believed to have influenced the creation of “Verrückt” in “Call of Duty: Zombies.” This famous map sets players inside an abandoned German asylum, making it one of the most renowned in the game. Much like the earlier post, Tattoophilosopher captured a picture of themselves engaging in a few rounds on Verrückt, all while posing in front of a possible source of inspiration for the map’s design.
To round things up, the same player visited a theater reminiscent of the iconic Kino der Toten map from “Call of Duty: Black Ops.” This map is arguably the most significant in “Call of Duty: Zombies,” as it was included with the base game when it launched in 2010. The player paid homage to the map’s history by spending some time in a genuinely spooky real-life theater, modeled after the Kino der Toten map. Although inspired by Chicago’s Central Park Theater, Treyarch added some imaginative elements.
For fans of “Call of Duty: Zombies,” this year is shaping up to be a thrilling time. The upcoming release of “Black Ops 6” from Treyarch promises not just an engaging campaign and multiplayer, but also an enhanced Zombies experience. Two new round-based maps for Zombies will debut together with the launch of “Black Ops 6.”
