These characters, appearing in everything from grand historical adventures to bizarre horror stories and highly anticipated sequels, stayed with players not because they were perfect, but because they felt thoughtfully created. Here are the best video game characters of 2025, listed alphabetically by game title.

It’s rare to find a show as good as Arcane – and that’s a good thing! Luckily, if you loved Arcane, there are a few newer releases that offer a similar level of stunning animation and bold storytelling. While each of these shows is unique, they’re worth watching if you’re missing Vi and Jinx and want something to fill that void.

I initially thought I’d get a Nintendo Switch 2 eventually, probably a year or two after it came out, once there were more games available and the initial excitement died down. However, after seeing the lineup of upcoming games, I realize waiting wasn’t a realistic option. The console is now a must-have, not just a future purchase. With so many promising games scheduled for January 2026 and beyond, I’ll be buying it for myself, and those games alone are enough to justify the cost.

The PS3 had its share of great games, but also a lot of games that weren’t well-received. Often, these overlooked titles didn’t get a fair chance. Sometimes they were criticized for being different from other games in the series, or suffered from initial technical problems. Regardless, many of these games actually have merit and deserve more recognition.

I first experienced Batman through Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it completely deepened my love for the character. I was thirteen when the game came out, and I still vividly remember the excitement of playing it for the first time on my PS3. It was a fantastic experience, especially knowing that three more incredible games were yet to come.
