Highlights

  • Switch version update fixes collision problems.
  • There are still some lingering problems that need to be fixed in future updates.

As a longtime fan of the Harry Potter series and an avid gamer, I was thrilled when Hogwarts Legacy was released in 2023. I’ve spent countless hours exploring the magical world Avaline Interactive created, honing my skills as a student at Hogwarts, and embarking on exciting quests.

As an avid fan of Hogwarts Legacy, I’m thrilled to share that Avalanche Software has dropped a fresh update for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One editions of the game in July 2024. Although this update was initially unveiled for the more advanced versions on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, us players on older consoles get to enjoy it too!

The most recent update for “Hogwarts Legacy” on older consoles has resolved problems with the Photo Mode feature and various other bugs. However, it’s important to note that some crashing issues remain unaddressed at this time. Simultaneously, an update was rolled out for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One editions of “Hogwarts Legacy.” Avalanche Software has shared patch notes detailing the improvements made specifically to the Switch version, as well as the changes implemented in both the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

As a gamer who plays Hogwarts Legacy on Switch, I can tell you that the recent update we received is quite similar to what PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X players got. For me, this means fixing some annoying issues, especially with Photo Mode. The collision problems in the open world have been reduced, making my gaming experience smoother. Plus, crashing issues are now fewer and far between. The update for PS4 and Xbox One users brings improvements to the game’s stability, and just like all July 2024 updates, it addresses those pesky Photo Mode bugs that we’ve been encountering.

In June 2024, Hogwarts Legacy‘s major update brought in the long-awaited Photo Mode. This highly anticipated feature has been a top request from fans since the game’s launch in 2023. It’s exciting to see it finally integrated into the game. However, another frequently requested feature that was expected to be included hasn’t materialized yet, leaving many disappointed and uncertain if it will ever come to pass.

As an avid fan of “Hogwarts Legacy,” I’ve longed for the ability to manually adjust seasons in the game. Currently, upon completing the game, players are left with a perpetual springtime Hogwarts, while others and I yearn for the festive decorations that grace the castle and grounds during fall and winter. Although upcoming “Hogwarts Legacy” updates will address glitches, don’t expect a substantial content update any time soon. The developers appear to be primarily focused on their next project, which is said to be “Hogwarts Legacy 2.”
