As a seasoned Overwatch 2 player with countless hours under my belt, I can’t help but get excited about the latest update to hit our beloved game! Quick Play: Hacked is back once more with an intriguing twist – the ability for players to choose their role passives.

In the upcoming brief return of “Quick Play: Hacked” in Overwatch 2, participants will have the ability to select their preferred role passive instead of being randomly assigned. Currently, Overwatch 2 fans are engrossed in season 11, titled Super Mega Ultrawatch, which includes a new Push map named Runasapi. Additionally, it features a Summer Games 2024 event and an exciting collaboration with Transformers, resulting in eye-catching skins for Reinhardt, Bastion, Ramattra, and Illari.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that in the latest update of our favorite game, they introduced a new experimental mode called Quick Play: Hacked. Named after Sombra’s ability to hack opponents, this mode was designed as a playground for both players and developers to tinker with various settings. The most significant change I’ve experienced is the noticeable increase in pace during matches. Payloads now move 60% faster, while respawn times have been reduced by an impressive 75%. In one of the recent tweaks to Quick Play: Hacked, they unleashed Double Trouble. This version lets teammates pick the same heroes within their roles, leading to some seriously wild and unpredictable team compositions.

In the middle of Overwatch 2‘s Season 11, Quick Play: Hacked is coming back for a limited time with an exciting new feature. Instead of being assigned a random role, players can now select their preferred role passive. Each role offers three distinct passive abilities to choose from. However, this unique experience will only last for two days, ending on July 17.

Overwatch 2 Quick Play: Hacked Pickable Passives

Tanks

  • Unyielding – Duration of debuffs reduced by 40%
  • Armored – Converts 100 health into armor
  • Last Stand – 50% cooldown reduction when below 50% HP

Damage

  • Slayer – See critical health enemies through walls
  • Frenzy – Eliminations grant a brief 30% speed boost
  • Trigger Happy – Increases ammo capacity by 20%

Support

  • Resourceful – Reduces cooldowns by 20%
  • Swift Save – Increases healing by 50% for targets below 35% HP
  • Close Call – Gain a brief 20% speed boost when below 50% HP

One of the best passive abilities Tank mains will be able to pick, Armored, gives an additional 100 armor at the cost of 100 health. Roadhog players in particular would be pleased with the Unyielding passive, which decreases the duration of debuffs by 40% and seems like a big help against his nemesis, Ana and her pesky Biotic Grenade. Perhaps the most alarming passive ability on this list is for DPS heroes. Named Slayer, the passive lets players see low-health enemies through walls. This ability likely works best with flankers, like Reaper and Tracer, who like to chase down opponents who try to flee dicey 1v1 encounters. Additionally, the Resourceful passive for Support players seems like the perfect fit for Mercy mains as its reduces her ever-valuable Resurrect cooldown by 20%.

Since the 2022 launch of Overwatch 2, passive abilities for roles have undergone significant modifications. Blizzard appears to be testing new concepts using Quick Play: Hacked as an experimental game mode. With three distinct passives active for each role, the experience might seem unbalanced. Players are given a limited time of two days to explore all nine variations before Quick Play: Hacked is taken offline once again. If it resurfaces in the future, it could introduce yet another surprising element.
