Want to become a force to be reckoned with in *Dying Light: The Beast*? Leveling up quickly is key, as it earns you skill points to improve your combat, movement, and overall strength. However, earning experience points (XP) can take a while, especially if you enjoy exploring. Luckily, I’ve discovered a simple method to rapidly gain XP and level up, letting you dominate *Dying Light: The Beast* with ease.
How to Level Up Fast in Dying Light: The Beast
You can earn extra XP beyond what you get from defeating enemies. Completing main quests gives a lot of XP, but if you’re not strong enough for the next quest, it’s not helpful. The fastest way to gain XP and level up is by playing at night and using your Beast Mode.
This technique works best if you’ve unlocked the ‘Beast Controlled’ skill in your Beast skill tree, as it lets you decide exactly when to activate Beast Mode. If you haven’t unlocked it, you can still try this method, but it will be more challenging and require more precise timing.
Night Time Controlled Beast Method
Start by going to the Town Hall and going to sleep in the bed until it’s night. Then, leave through the front door and fill up your Beast Meter by skillfully avoiding attacks from regular zombies. Once the meter is full, initiate a chase sequence by finding a Volatile – these are the zombies with glowing red eyes, and they appear frequently. Simply get one to notice you, and you’ll see a ‘Chase Started’ message on your screen.
Now, head back to the Town Hall if you aren’t there already and activate Beast Mode. Eliminate the Volatiles, and when you need to recover health or Beast Mode wears off, fall back to the UV lights near the Town Hall’s front gate. These lights will protect you from zombies and can even make them more vulnerable, helping you finish them off once you can use Beast Mode again.
You’ll get over 500 XP for each Volatile you defeat. This is a great way to quickly gain experience, particularly if you can take down multiple Volatiles in a row using your Beast Mode.

You can actually do this even before unlocking the Controlled Beast skill, but it takes some precise timing. Simply fill up your Beast Mode meter, start a chase, and hit a few Volatiles while you’re under UV lights to activate Beast Mode. From there, you’ll be able to easily kill the Volatiles and any other zombies that join the chase. While regular zombies don’t give as much experience as Volatiles, killing them at night will still reward you with more XP than killing them during the day.
Avoid Dying
No matter how you play, the most important thing is to avoid dying. Each death costs you experience points – usually between 100 and 500. Losing XP repeatedly, especially during quests or while exploring, can significantly slow down your progress. If you’re worried about a fight, don’t hesitate to run away! Find a safe place to heal and return to a Safe Point as soon as you can.
What’s the Max Level Cap in Dying Light: The Beast?
Unlike some games, Dying Light: The Beast doesn’t require a huge amount of grinding to reach the maximum level of 15. While leveling up through quests alone can take a while, the method described here will help you reach the level cap well before finishing the story.
