How to Beat Silksong Act 3 (Progression Guide)

Many players are surprised to learn that Silksong actually has an Act 3. After defeating the last boss in Act 2, you can complete the ‘Silk and Soul’ quest to discover an alternate method for defeating Grand Mother Silk. Once you capture and imprison Grand Mother Silk within the Void, the credits will roll, and you’ll be returned to the game’s main menu.

When you load your saved game, you’ll discover something unexpected. If you destroy the vines blocking your path, you’ll return to Pharloom and Act 3 will start. Now, Hornet needs to find a way to fix the damage caused by the trap, which means venturing deep underground into a place called The Abyss.

This guide offers a complete, step-by-step walkthrough of Act 3 in *Silksong*, detailing everything you need to do to reach and unlock the game’s True Ending.

Beat the Bell Eater & Find the Snail Shaman Hut in Moss Grotto

Once you’ve seen the cutscene with Hornet landing in the flower field under The Cradle, head to the nearest Bellway. The Grand Bellway at the bottom of the Choral Chambers is the closest and easiest to reach.

You’ll need to reach that location by foot, because the path through Ventrica in the First Shrine will be closed off once you start Act 3.

Attempt to ring the large bell at the Grand Bellway. Instead of finding your usual ally, a powerful enemy called the Bell Eater will emerge and attack Hornet. Rest on the bench to your right, then descend into the hole below to battle the Bell Eater.

Okay, so after I whittle down the boss’s health enough, this huge thing called the Bell Beast comes charging in for the final hit. Then, a bunch of little baby Beastlings pop up, and Hornet learns this cool new ability called the Beastling Call. Basically, it’s a song she can play to summon those little Beastlings, and they’ll rush to her and teleport her back to the nearest Bellway. Super handy for getting around!

Once you receive the Beastling Call, return to Bone Bottom via the Bellway and descend into Moss Grotto. Find the hut near the top-left exit of the area and talk to the Snail Shamans. They will ask Hornet to discover a path to the Abyss.

To reach the Abyss, Hornet needs to find and use the Diving Bell, which is located at the very bottom-right of the Deep Docks area.

Find the Diving Bell in Deep Docks

Fast travel to the Deep Docks using the Bellway, then find the Forge Daughter and speak with her. Next, talk to Bellow and convince him to move down to the Diving Bell. Finally, interact with Bellow again to descend into the lava depths using the Diving Bell.

Once you’ve received assistance from Bellow, head to the next room and use a Simple Key to unlock the door. Proceed all the way to the right, carefully avoiding the enemies with void powers in this hidden part of Deep Docks, until you reach the upper-right corner.

Head to Far Fields and relax on the bench you find there. It’s a much better place to respawn than the bench at Deep Docks, saving you a lot of time if you happen to fall while heading down.

Starting from the Far Fields entrance, head along the path described to reach the boss fight against Forebrothers Signis & Gron. You’ll find them shortly after unlocking a shortcut that leads back to the upper level of the hidden Deep Docks.

Forebrothers Signis & Gron boss

The Forebrothers Signis & Gron can be a lengthy fight since you have to deal with two bosses and their helpers at the same time. Once you’ve defeated them, head left and follow the path around until you find a room where you need to drop down, being careful of the large, slug-like creatures.

Okay, so these big guys stick to walls just like their smaller cousins, and they’ll shoot nasty goo at you if you get too close. My strategy is to quickly drop down, use the Drifter’s Cloak to sneak past them to the base, then head right and climb upwards to avoid the goo!

To reach the upper area on the right side of the last room before the Diving Bell, you need to time your downward strikes so they bounce off the slime on the walls. If you don’t time it right, the slime’s spray will hurt you.

Once you reach the Diving Bell, go up to the room above and talk to Bellow to get the key. After that, go back down, enter the Diving Bell, and let Bellow know you’re ready to descend. Take a seat on the bench and enjoy the ride as the Diving Bell lowers past the lava and into the Abyss.

Get the Silk Soar Ability Deep in The Abyss

Once the Diving Bell falls into the Abyss, your next step is to travel through the area to find a Weaver Nest. This nest holds the Silk Soar ability. To get there, head left until you reach a dead end, then drop down and continue to the right.

As you progress, avoid falling into the damaging black tendrils. Combine downward strikes, dodges, and your Clawline to navigate platforms and reach floating orbs.

After Hornet looks into the abyss and Lace appears, head to the upper-right corner of the room and use your Needolin near the Weaver door. Go inside and drop down to the lowest level, then interact with the statue to unlock the Silk Soar ability.

First, use Silk Soar to escape the Weaver’s nest. Then, return to the Diving Bell by traveling back through the Abyss. Finally, use Silk Soar again to reach previously unreachable tunnels above and complete your return.

Once you return to the Diving Bell, use Silk Soar to head up, then go left through a few rooms until you see a bench. Rest on the bench – you’ll need it, as the next part is very challenging.

Escape the Abyss & Rising Lava

The next area will be a real challenge, even for experienced *Silksong* players. After climbing up from the room with the bench, you’ll face a difficult platforming sequence. You’ll need perfect timing and mastery of all your movement abilities to get through it.

As you progress, lava will start to rise behind Hornet, making this already challenging section even more intense. Reach the top, then use Silk Soar to glide back to Deep Docks and finally escape The Abyss.

Learn the Elegy of the Deep from the Snail Shamans

Right after you leave The Abyss, use the Beastling Call to travel to the Deep Docks Bellway. Follow the Bellway to Bone Bottom, then head left and cross the bridge (or through the hole if you destroyed it). From there, drop down into the pit that Hornet initially climbed out of at the beginning of the game.

Once you return to the starting area, turn left and enter the hut. You’ll find three Snail Shamans gathered around a bench inside. Talk to them to discover how to fight back against the Void that’s threatening Pharloom.

Hornet needs to collect the Old Hearts from Pharloom’s most powerful bugs and bring them back to the Snail Shamans. The Shamans will use the hearts’ combined energy to help her access her memories. First, she must learn the Elegy of the Deep from them, then find and gather the Old Hearts, venturing into the most remote and hidden parts of Pharloom.

Silksong Act 3 Walkthrough – The Old Hearts

Map Marker 1 KEY ITEM: Heart of Might
Map Marker 2 KEY ITEM: Heart of the Wild
Map Marker 3 KEY ITEM: Heart of the Woods
Map Marker 3 OPTIONAL: Lost Verdania / Conjoined Heart

To help you through Act 3, find all the Flea locations and complete the Fleatopia minigames. This will unlock the fourth Needle Upgrade, making the rest of the act much simpler.

Where to Get the Heart of Might

Players should aim to get the Heart of Might first, as its boss fight is considered the most challenging of the three. Successfully defeating Crust King Khann will prepare you for all the other boss fights needed to collect the Old Hearts in Silksong.

In *Silksong*, the Heart of Might is located by heading upwards from the Blasted Steps bellway into the Sands of Karak. This area is also where you’ll find Crustnut for the Great Taste of Pharloom quest, but you’ll need to explore a bit further to reach the Old Heart.

Head along the path shown on the map until you reach a room filled with crab-like enemies guarding an old statue of the Crust King. Play the Elegy of the Deep in front of the statue to access the Crust King’s memories and locate the Coral Tower.

This beautiful area has several enemy challenges, called Gauntlets, that Hornet needs to overcome as she climbs higher. Head to the right for the first one, then go up and to the left to find the second. Keep moving back and forth through the tower, defeating Gauntlets as you go, until you reach the top. You’ll know you’re there when you see a room with a platform over some spikes.

Before entering the final room, find a small alcove in the top-left corner of the area. Break the ceiling there to create a shortcut back to the beginning. This will save you a lot of time if you need to restart after the Crust King or Gauntlet.

Once you’ve beaten all the enemies in the last room, use Silk Soar to reach the boss room above. Don’t forget to capture some pictures of the beautiful underwater scenery Hornet passes through on her way up!

Okay, so I finally took down Crust King Khann, and he dropped the Encrusted Heart! That’s one of the Old Hearts I need for that quest, so that’s a big win!

Where to Get the Heart of the Wild

Okay, so if you’re looking for the Heart of the Wild, head to Hunter’s March – it’s connected to The Marrow and Deep Docks, so it’s easy to get to. Once you’re there, go to the statue of Skarrsinger Karmelita, it’s way up in the top-right corner of the zone. Then, use Silk Soar to get some height, and follow the path that goes to the right. That’ll take you to a hidden area above the Far Fields – that’s where you’ll find it! It took me a bit to figure out, but it’s a cool spot.

Use the map to locate and go inside the hut. Once there, you’ll encounter a unique individual – talk to Skarrsinger Karmelita. She’ll ask you to use the Elegy of the Deep, which will allow you to experience her memories and confront her when she was at her most powerful, before the destruction of her tribe by the Citadel.

To honor Karmelita, head to the right and circle around the main stage while listening to her beautiful song. Enter the arena from the right to battle Skarrsinger Karmelita. If you’re defeated, you’ll restart outside the memory and need to replay the Elegy of the Deep to return and try the fight again.

Defeat Beat Skarrsinger and Karmelita, and Hornet will be able to return to the real world. There, she can collect the Hunter’s Heart, which will be located near Karmelita’s remains.

Where to Get the Heart of the Woods

Okay, so I’ve been trying to find the Heart of the Woods, and it’s a bit of a sneaky one! It’s *in* Shellwood, but you can’t actually reach it from within Shellwood itself. You have to go to the Grand Gate, drop down the elevator shaft that leads to the Underworks, and then look for a wall on the left side that you can break. That’s how you get there!

Go through the doorway on the left to reach a hidden area in Shellwood. Follow the path shown on the map until you find Seth, who guards the forest shrine. After defeating Seth, head to the left and activate the Elegy of the Deep while standing before the Fountain inside the shrine. This will allow you to enter Nyleth’s memory.

Head left in the memory to find Nyleth resting against the wall. Getting close will start the boss fight. As the fight goes on, Nyleth will break the floor, dropping Hornet into a small, dangerous room filled with thorns. When you re-enter the arena, the fight will begin at this thorn-filled stage.

Once you defeat Nyleth, you’ll obtain the Heart of the Woods, also known as the Pollen Heart. With this third Old Heart in hand, players of *Silksong* need to go back to the Snail Shamans in Moss Grotto. The Shamans will use their abilities to allow you access to the Red Memory.

Optional: The Conjoined Heart & Lost Verdania

In Act 3: Lost Verdania, players can unlock a hidden area. If you’ve discovered all the Green Prince’s previous locations, you’ll find him near Craw Lake in Greymoor, grieving over the remains of a large, armored mantis.

Okay, so I found out you can actually *go* to Lost Verdania, this incredible, overgrown mantis kingdom from way back when! You just need to have the Elegy of the Deep and use it while you’re standing right next to the guy who can take you there. It’s seriously beautiful, like a really lush, hidden place.

In this area, your main task is to gather glowing orbs to help the Green Prince remember his past. Collecting these orbs will also gradually reveal more of the environment, clearing away the effects of time. Eventually, this will unlock a hidden room in the upper-right corner, leading to the Clover Dancers battle.

To leave the Green Prince’s memory, you need to beat the Clover Dancers. Once Hornet wakes up, she’ll see the Green Prince holding his deceased partner. Below them, you’ll find the Conjoined Heart. You can use this heart to complete the Old Hearts quest instead of finding any other Old Heart.

Silksong Act 3 Walkthrough – The True Ending

Traverse Hornet’s Memories to Get the Everbloom

As you approach the end of Act 3, the path becomes more straightforward. Once you’ve gathered at least three Old Hearts, go back to the Snail Shamans. They’ll use the Hearts’ power to let you enter Hornet’s memories, where you’ll try to create the Everbloom – a flower with the power to push back the Void.

Explore Hornet’s history in Red Memory by following a straightforward path through her long-forgotten memories.

  • First, you’ll see Hornet’s memory of Herrah the Beast, her birth mother, and one of the Dreamers who sealed the Hollow Knight in the previous game.
  • Then, you see a young Hornet amongst the Weavers that taught her how to wield her silk.
  • After this, we are taken to The Hive and shown Hornet’s combat training with Vespa, the Hive Queen.
  • Finally, we walk through a visage of the White Palace where Hornet’s father (the Pale King) makes no appearance.

Hornet then recalls the White Lady, the Pale King’s wife and one of the three queens who cared for her. The White Lady will help Hornet remember her family’s link to the Void and give her the Everbloom.

Once Hornet has awakened and you’ve collected the Everbloom from the Snail Shaman’s hut, return to Deep Docks using the Bellway. You need to reach the Diving Bell to access the Abyss and unlock the true ending of *Silksong*.

Go to the Depths of the Abyss & Jump Into the Void

Return to the lower section of Deep Docks, which is full of dangers and hidden passages. If possible, use the shortcut located in the bottom-left of the main Deep Docks area – it will help you avoid most of the enemies.

Return to the Diving Bell and head upstairs to speak with Bellow. He’ll be surprised to see Hornet, and even more surprised that she needs to use the bell again. Climb inside, signal Bellow to lower you, and then descend into the Abyss – this time, you’ll be safe.

Return to the area and go back down to the void lake where you first met Lace. Sit on the bench there, and get ready to fight Lost Lace, the final boss required to unlock the true ending of *Silksong*.

Defeat Lost Lace to Beat Act 3 & Get the True Ending to Silksong

Lost Lace is a very challenging boss. Expect to spend a lot of time practicing this fight, learning her attack patterns, and getting used to her fast and unpredictable movements.

Defeating the final boss in Act 3 will unlock the true ending for *Silksong*. You’ll be rewarded with a powerful and emotional final cutscene showing Hornet and Lace escaping the Void, and a surprising reunion with someone you know.
