How to Complete Hydro-Puzzle in Dying Light The Beast

To finish everything in *Dying Light: The Beast*, you’ll need to explore Castor Woods, helping the people who live there and occasionally preventing them from making bad decisions. The “Hydro-Puzzle” quest is particularly lengthy and complex, with a lot of unexpected twists that might leave you feeling a little confused before you finally solve it.

This guide will walk you through completing the Secondary Quest, finding all the secret objectives and safe combinations, and quickly uncovering the truth about the Town Hall’s water supply issue, so you can get all the rewards.

How To Start Hydro-Puzzle in Dying Light: The Beast

The Hydro-Puzzle quest unlocks after you finish the “Power Gambit” main quest in *Dying Light: The Beast* and turn on the first Relay Station (east of Town Hall) when Pietro asks for assistance over the radio. He’ll then ask Kyle for help investigating problems with the water supply near the Old Villa.

Players need to go to the Water Pumping Station, enter the building, and overcome the Infested creatures guarding the controls for the water pump. After adjusting the valves and checking the pressure gauge, Pietro and Kyle will realize the problem isn’t there – it must be somewhere else.

After that, make your way to the Water Repairs Facility and find a way to get inside. You can climb the scaffolding on the side of the building to reach a terrace, then enter through an open air duct. Once you’re in, take care of any infected and continue until you find a small office containing a Sage. The combination to open it is 27-1-15. Inside, you’ll find some valuable items and a key to the Chief Engineer’s Office.

Head to the marker and defeat the Virals patrolling the hallways. Then, go inside the office to watch a cutscene. You’ll hear Pietro and Kyle discussing the interrupted water supply at Town Hall over the radio. The water network map shows your next stop is the Sewer Maintenance Point.

Leave the building and get into the Castor Woods Ranger truck parked close by. Drive to the Sewer entrance, which is near Town Hall. Follow the on-screen marker to find the door that leads into the tunnels you need to explore. Once you climb down the ladder, search the zombie-filled sewers to find the next set of pressure valves.

After finding the water pressure meter and the yellow pipe, players will hear a sound indicating someone is trapped in the sewers. Kyle realizes this is an SOS signal and that help is needed. Players must then follow the yellow pipes, fighting or avoiding infected creatures along the way. Continue through the sewers until you reach a small office. Inside, a note reveals that a special lantern is needed to discover the safe combination. Shine your UV Light on the wall near the note to reveal the code for a nearby safe.

The safe combination is 21-69-35. Inside, you’ll find some valuable items and a Medkit. Grab those, then continue following the yellow pipes until you reach a large area filled with zombies. Clear out the zombies, and then investigate upstairs to find what’s making the noise.

It seems the head engineer of the water system and his family have been hiding from the apocalypse in a maintenance room within the sewers. He shut off the water hoping to signal any other survivors and attract a rescue team. Kyle realizes this plan worked, and he assures the engineer he’ll help him, his son, and his wife escape.

Okay, so after that, you need to head left and clear a path forward. Watch out for those electrical cables lying in the water – they’re dangerous! Make sure you defeat every enemy in the area to finish the Hydro-Puzzle. Once Kyle gets the exit open, the Town Hall folks will come rescue the Engineer and his family. And as a reward for all that, we get a sweet 10,000 EXP, a Bruiser Bracer, and two Beginner Manual Pages! Not bad at all.
