I’m thrilled to share that starting today, I can dive into the magical world of Yaoling: Mythical Journey as it enters early access on Steam, developed by the talented team at Rayka Studio.
Previously titled “Yaoling: Home of the Yokai,” this game draws inspiration from the realm of Eastern fantasy. It skillfully combines features from monster collecting games, cozy base-building experiences, and intricately tactical auto-battlers. According to the developer, Yaoling: Mythical Journey stands out as a unique creation.

In the Legendary Realm of Yaoling: Mythical Journey, we extend a warm invitation to you. Discover this ancient land where humans and unique creatures called Yaolings coexist in perfect balance. This tranquil land is typically a haven of peace, but now faces an ominous threat. A malevolent force has begun to taint the Land of the Ancients, causing even its inhabitants – once harmless Yaolings – to transform into ominous shadows of their former selves.
As a hopeful Yaoling Guardian, you’ll have the responsibility of driving away the ominous darkness from the realm. Prepare for an adventure that will take you through thirty diverse landscapes: ancient woodlands, snow-covered plains, shadowy gorges, and majestic kingdoms. Along your journey, you’ll have the opportunity to form bonds with over 300 unique Yaolings, who can aid you in combat and contribute to constructing a cozy village. Additionally, don’t forget to lend a helping hand to human villagers as you travel, as they may return the favor by contributing to your thriving community.
To have a shot at saving the Land of the Ancients from its curse, you must master a complex auto-battling mechanism. In this battle, you and your Yaolings will face endless enemies, the thirteen Keepers of the Yaoling Schools, and an intimidating horde of Demon Lords. Free the domain and safeguard the Divine Jade Tree that shields it.
As an avid fan of this game, I can tell you that the developers anticipate keeping it in early access at least until the year 2025. However, they assure us that the gameplay and mechanics are already complete and polished in their current build. The game offers a rich experience with numerous areas to discover, hundreds of Yaolings to uncover, and plenty of unexpected gameplay twists integrated into the main storyline.
