How to Get Ordovis's Greatsword in Elden Ring

As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent traversing the harsh lands of Elden Ring, I can confidently say that the fight against the Crucible Knights and Crucible Knight Ordovis is one of the most challenging encounters I’ve faced yet. With their long-range spears and relentless pursuit, these knights leave little room for error. And Ordovis, with his immense Greatsword, can easily put an end to any careless mistakes.

In Elden Ring, greatswords rank among the most effective weapon types, offering players a wealth of options. However, with so many greatswords to choose from, selecting just one may pose a challenge. For those seeking a change from the routine, Elden Ring provides an array of alternatives. While some greatswords excel in particular scenarios, others, such as Ordovis’ Greatsword, are versatile and effective against various adversaries. This guide will walk players through obtaining Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring and discuss what makes it a superior choice.

Where to Find Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring

To get Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring, players will first have to make their way to . After reaching the Altus Plateau, you can simply ride east at any time. Your goal will be Auriza Hero’s Grave, just outside the city.

How to Reach Auriza Hero’s Grave:

To reach this location, use the following directions:

  • Starting from the Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace, head northeast along the main road until you reach the second phantom tree. If it’s your first time in the area, you will encounter a Valiant Gargoyle about halfway up the path. There will also be two Golden Seeds at each location.
  • From the second phantom tree, head north along the main path. Again, if it’s your first time here, you’ll encounter a projection of Margit/Mrogott. At first, it will appear as a commoner standing along the side of the path. As you pass, it will turn into a copy of the Fell Omen. Defeat it to earn the , or simply ride past.
  • You do not want to ride all the way out of the city limits. As you ride through the camp, look northeast to find a staircase cut out of the rock wall. You can see its location on the map. Take that path until it splits, just before the depiction of the lesser Erdtree on the map.
  • At the fork, you want to take the southern path. Watch for multiple bow-wielding golems as you enter the clearing.
  • On the lower path, you’ll come to a lake. Ride east, and you’ll eventually come to a slim canyon. Ride through the canyon and when you emerge, Auriza Hero’s Grave will be on the right.

Upon entering Auriza Hero’s Tomb, you’ll recognize its design as reminiscent of other burial sites in Elden Ring. As you proceed, keep an eye out for a chariot pursuing you along the straight path. Overcoming the bosses of this tomb will grant you the prized Ordovis Greatsword as your reward. To access the chamber where the bosses lie, follow these instructions:

  • Make your way down the first slope until you reach the small bridge just after the light.
  • Fall off the bridge to the right or the left. Watch for Basilisks. Head out the west exit.
  • There will be two more Basilisks in the next chamber. Turn north and head out, but be careful as you reach the end. The chariot will be coming overhead.
  • There will be two chariots here; one going up, and one going down. You’ll need to switch from side to side as the chariots pass each other. There is one safe alcove on the left. Your goal is to reach the end of this slop, and make your way up the small slope at the end. You can make your way through and destroy the chariots first, but it is possible to reach the boss’s chamber without doing so. There is a small alcove on the right side of the final slope.
  • The boss chamber will be behind the door at the top of the small slope.

How to Defeat the Crucible Knight and Crucible Knight Ordovis:

Fighting against Crucible Knights can be quite challenging, even more so if you’re not adequately leveled up. The standard Crucible Knight wields a long spear with hooked antlers at its tip, giving it an extended reach that can catch you off guard when you try to create distance. It pursues relentlessly, leaving little room for healing. Moreover, there’s Ordovis, the Crucible Knight variant, who uses a massive greatsword. This weapon inflicts severe damage when wielded by Ordovis. As a result, summoning a spirit is advised for all but the most skilled players.

Summoning a spirit will help you concentrate on defeating one enemy at a time during battles against Crucible Knights, making the encounter much less challenging. Although they are individually formidable, their standard transformation applies to both knights. Skilled parry users can employ this technique effectively against either enemy, but timing becomes more critical when dealing with Ordovis and his spear. Both enemies are susceptible to stance-breaking, making dual greatswords an effective weapon choice, especially when combined with the appropriate ability.

Ordovis’s Greatsword Weapon Skill: Ordovis’s Vortex:

As a gamer, I can tell you that when wielding Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring, the weapon skill I utilize is referred to as “Name of Skill“. This ability comes with a FP expense of 12. With some focus, I can even charge it up for added might, but be warned that there isn’t any follow-up attack after using it.

I’ve spent years honing my craft as a blacksmith, and there’s nothing quite as exhilarating as wielding the raw power of the crucible to manipulate a sword mid-air. The feeling of building momentum with each spin, the anticipation before slamming the blade down onto the solid ground – it’s an experience that leaves me breathless every time. Each strike is not just a display of strength and precision, but also a testament to the passion and dedication I have for my craft. The rhythmic clanging of metal against metal, the heat emanating from the forge, and the satisfaction of shaping raw materials into something beautiful and functional – these are the elements that make being a blacksmith an unforgettable part of my life.

As an Elden Ring fan and devoted user of faith-based builds, I’ve come across a fantastic greatsword that goes by the name of Ordovis’. This weapon sets itself apart with its holy damage type, which may not boast the flashy visuals of fire or frost but proves incredibly effective during exploration and battles against numerous bosses. The best part? Its damage scales remarkably well with both Strength and Faith stats.
