How to Get Ordovis's Greatsword in Elden Ring

As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent traversing Elden Ring’s treacherous landscapes and battling its formidable foes, I can confidently say that the Crucible Knights, especially Ordovis, pose a significant challenge even to the most experienced among us. Having faced my fair share of long-ranged spear wielders and hulking greatsword users, I empathize with those who may be struggling against these relentless adversaries.

In Elden Ring, greatswords stand out as effective weapon types with an impressive range of options. However, selecting the ideal one from the abundance of choices can be challenging for players. For those seeking to depart from the routine, Elden Ring offers various enticing alternatives. While numerous greatswords excel in distinct scenarios, a small number, such as [Name of Specific Greatsword], deliver consistent performance regardless of the challenge. This guide aims to help players obtain Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring and elucidate why it is an excellent pick.

Where to Find Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring

To obtain Ordovis’s Greatsword in Elden Ring, players need to follow these steps: First, make your way to the Altus Plateau. Once there, you can travel east anytime you’d like. Your destination is Auriza Hero’s Grave, which is located outside the city.

How to Reach Auriza Hero’s Grave:

To reach this location, use the following directions:

  • Starting from the Outer Wall Phantom Tree site of grace, head northeast along the main road until you reach the second phantom tree. If it’s your first time in the area, you will encounter a Valiant Gargoyle about halfway up the path. There will also be two Golden Seeds at each location.
  • From the second phantom tree, head north along the main path. Again, if it’s your first time here, you’ll encounter a projection of Margit/Mrogott. At first, it will appear as a commoner standing along the side of the path. As you pass, it will turn into a copy of the Fell Omen. Defeat it to earn the , or simply ride past.
  • You do not want to ride all the way out of the city limits. As you ride through the camp, look northeast to find a staircase cut out of the rock wall. You can see its location on the map. Take that path until it splits, just before the depiction of the lesser Erdtree on the map.
  • At the fork, you want to take the southern path. Watch for multiple bow-wielding golems as you enter the clearing.
  • On the lower path, you’ll come to a lake. Ride east, and you’ll eventually come to a slim canyon. Ride through the canyon and when you emerge, Auriza Hero’s Grave will be on the right.

Upon stepping into Auriza Hero’s Tomb, you’ll observe a layout reminiscent of other burial sites in Elden Ring. Prepare for a linear journey as a chariot relentlessly pursues you. Defeating the tomb’s bosses will grant you access to Ordovis’s Greatsword as a reward. To make your way to the boss chamber, follow these simple instructions:

  • Make your way down the first slope until you reach the small bridge just after the light.
  • Fall off the bridge to the right or the left. Watch for Basilisks. Head out the west exit.
  • There will be two more Basilisks in the next chamber. Turn north and head out, but be careful as you reach the end. The chariot will be coming overhead.
  • There will be two chariots here; one going up, and one going down. You’ll need to switch from side to side as the chariots pass each other. There is one safe alcove on the left. Your goal is to reach the end of this slop, and make your way up the small slope at the end. You can make your way through and destroy the chariots first, but it is possible to reach the boss’s chamber without doing so. There is a small alcove on the right side of the final slope.
  • The boss chamber will be behind the door at the top of the small slope.

How to Defeat the Crucible Knight and Crucible Knight Ordovis:

Fighting against Crucible Knights can be quite challenging, especially if you’re not adequately leveled up. The standard Crucible Knight wields a long spear with hooked antlers at its tip. This weapon boasts an impressive reach and can hit you even when you believe you’ve created enough space between us. It relentlessly pursues you, leaving little room for healing. And that’s just one of the adversaries! Crucible Knight Ordovis is equipped with Ordovis’s Greatsword. This weapon is highly damaging when used by Ordovis. Due to its punishing nature, summoning a Spirit is advisable for all but the most skilled players.

As a fan of this challenging battle, I’d suggest utilizing a spirit summon to zero in on a single enemy during the fight, making the encounter much more manageable. Crucible Knights may be formidable adversaries individually. They both undergo their typical transformation as Crucibles Knights. For players skilled in parrying, this technique works against both enemies, although it’s notably easier with Ordovis. The spear requires precise timing to parry effectively. Moreover, both enemies can be stance-broken, making dual greatswords an excellent choice. This combination becomes particularly effective when combined with the proper buff or talisman.

The Greatsword of Ordovis, revered as one of the premier weapons among the Crucible Knights, carries an ancient sacred power within it. Its crimson hue reflects the essence of primal gold, believed to be akin to the very core of life itself.

Ordovis’s Greatsword Weapon Skill: Ordovis’s Vortex:

In Elden Ring, the combat skill for Ordovis’s Greatsword is named “X“. This ability requires 12 Focus Points (FP) and can be amplified by charging it, though it doesn’t come with a secondary attack.

Ability Explanation: Swirl the crucible’s power, making the entire sword rotate in mid-flight, gathering force. Finish by crashing the edge into the earth.

In simpler terms, Ordovis’s Greatsword is an effective weapon in Elden Ring, dealing holy damage. Although it may not appear as visually striking as fire or frost damages, its performance during exploration and against various bosses is commendable. With its impressive scaling with both Strength and Faith stats, this sword is a top choice for any Golden Order or Erdtree Knight build. Its only drawback lies in its inability to prevent Skeleton-type enemies from resurrecting, but overall, it’s an excellent alternative for faith-build players seeking a change from the Blasphemous Blade.
