Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 early patch notes – Alfira companion, new Evil endings, closed Beta registration, more

As a long-time fan of Baldur’s Gate and its rich storytelling, I’m thrilled to hear about the latest updates coming our way with Patch 7. Having played through the game multiple times, I’ve encountered my fair share of bugs and quirks that have hindered my immersion into the world of Faerûn.

Larian Studios has announced that there are still many updates in store for Baldur’s Gate 3, as indicated by the exciting additions coming with Patch 7. Players can look forward to welcoming a new temporary companion, encountering new wicked endings, and eventually using the highly anticipated Mod toolkit – all of which have been eagerly requested by the community.

Here’s everything announced so far about Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7.

When will Patch 7 be released in Baldur’s Gate 3?

In September 2024, Baldur’s Gate Patch 7 is due for release. However, if you’d like to test it beforehand, sign up for the Closed Beta starting on July 22, 2024.

In the latest update, number 28, for Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios, they revealed the release of Patch 7. However, they made it clear that this wasn’t going to be their last patch. (Or, In update #28 of Baldur’s Gate 3’s community series by Larian Studios, they introduced Patch 7 and emphasized that this wouldn’t be their only patch.)

Split Screen Updates

In our upcoming update, the dynamic split-screen mode will be available! This means that your friends’ screens will no longer be a permanent division between you. The bond of friendship is stronger than any screen boundary.

In cooperative mode, you’ll be able to automatically merge split screens into one view when getting close to each other. You have the flexibility to adjust this feature conveniently through the heads-up display (HUD) as well as the game settings, whether you’re engaged in battle or not.

Honour Mode Improvements

In Honor Mode, we’re still enhancing combat with each update. With Patch 7, the bulette, Malus Thorm, githyanki Ch’r’ai Tska’an, Ch’r’ai Har’rak, and Ptaris now have extra Legendary Actions granted to them, adding more excitement to encounters with these creatures.

Droon Ragzlin has been given an additional magic power, named Arachnid Attraction, which allows him to summon and command the spiders living in the vicinity to confront the true adversary – himself.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Modding Toolkit

Starting in September, you’ll have access to our new modding toolkit along with this release. This means you can add various custom modifications to your game, or even create your own. By September, you’ll be able to enjoy a more personalized gaming experience with these new mods.

It would be helpful to check out our Modding FAQ for a better understanding of what modding capabilities entail in Baldur’s Gate 3.

I’m part of the team currently collaborating with Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Authors in our Closed Alpha phase. These dedicated creators have been putting the toolkit through its paces. Curious about what some of them have been cooking up during this testing stage? Keep on reading to find out!

As a gamer, I can tell you that this Toolkit is my go-to companion for unleashing my creativity. With it, I have all the necessary tools at hand to modify existing content or even generate fresh material from scratch.

  • Items – Equipment like weapons and armours, consumables, and miscellaneous items.
  • Cosmetics – Including different hair, beards, and other textures.
  • Classes and Subclasses – Creating new variants or modifying existing ones to edit abilities, powers, and skills.
  • Races – These can be created and edited to determine overall appearance, as well as their individual powers and abilities.
  • Dice Skins – You’ll also have the ability to edit or redesign the appearance of your dice skins!
  • User Interface – Including extensions and restyling of the game UI.
  • Quality of Life Improvements – Such as mods that edit or improve gameplay that don’t rely on unsupported elements.

Evil Endings

Additionally, Patch 7 includes new cinematics for a more spectacular conclusion to your malevolent gameplay experience.

As a devoted fan, I’d describe my experience with “Avatar: The Way of Water” in this way: From the intricately crafted Origin characters, such as the Dark Urge, to the diverse and personalized journeys we embark on as players, every captivating cinematic unfolds before me, waiting to be explored through my own devious means.

Based on my own experiences, I can relate to the excitement of wanting to share something new and intriguing with others, but at the same time, not wanting to reveal too much too soon. It’s a delicate balance between keeping an audience engaged and maintaining the element of surprise. The use of the phrase “feast your eyes” adds to the anticipation and makes me curious about what is to come. I remember feeling this way when I was working on a project that I was particularly proud of, and I wanted to share it with the world but didn’t want to give away all the details just yet. The promise of more information on the way only adds to the suspense and keeps me hooked.

Dark Urge Bug Fixes

In addition to the ominous new ending movies being rolled out with this update, we’ve made several enhancements and addressed various bugs specifically for our Dark Urge community. This includes smoothing out camera glitches, restoring missing motivation, and correcting visual effects, among other things.

An example of how to rephrase this in a more natural and easy-to-understand way: Previously, there was an issue where engaging in combat against your own party members during the Dark Urge would cause combat to fail. However, this problem has been resolved, resulting in a fight with the remaining enemies. Additionally, Minthara’s behavior will change depending on whether or not you have lost Bhaal’s influence.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 early patch notes – Alfira companion, new Evil endings, closed Beta registration, moreLarian Studios Alfira was one of the most requested characters by the community.

If we have an open spot in our group, we could allow a particular bard to tag along, at least for the time being.

“Can we really give Gortash a kiss?” you ask with hope in your voice. “We long to do so.” I get it, he’s got a lot on his plate, pondering the intricacies of death cult administration. Babygirl is preoccupied and unable to spare a moment for a kiss.

Origin Character Bug Fixes

In this revision, we’ll be addressing several areas of improvement for certain cinematics, final conversations, and Origin characters. These enhancements include fixing clipping issues, repairing malfunctioning quest triggers, dialogues, and relationships, and resolving instances of unexpected memory loss, as well as addressing persistent exclamation marks.

Instead, the Blade of Frontiers will carefully avoid swinging his sword close to the aortas of shorter races during recruitment attempts.

Let’s look at some of the highlights!

As a dedicated gamer playing the role of Wyll, I’m thrilled to share that patch 7 brings a number of enhancements specifically designed for my character. These upgrades span from refining Wyll’s dialogue responses to mending issues within the romantic storyline.

If you’ve had trouble initiating Wyll’s romantic scene, this update is here to help. Now, if your relationship with him is progressing, the corresponding cutscene will play when you talk to Wyll at camp prior to taking a rest.

In Act III, a problem that stopped Wyll’s romantic gesture from appearing for players with steady, heartfelt, and devoted relationships has been resolved. Consequently, these players will witness Wyll’s romantic cue functioning properly.

During the epilogue, we’ve made improvements to Wyll’s dialogue reactions for players who have sided with either Karlach in the Hells or Lae’zel in the rebellion. We realized that there weren’t enough chances to share a kiss with Wyll during this part of the game. With this update, you can now ask for a kiss in more instances throughout Wyll’s epilogue dialogue.

As a gamer in holographic form during the epilogue, I noticed that people no longer assumed I was Lae’zel just by speaking to me. It was an odd feeling, as I had gotten used to being identified with that specific character.

In Update 7, we enhanced the facial expressions of your character during certain romantic cutscenes, including those involving Ascended Astarion.

In selected cutscenes, we’ve adjusted the reactions of Origin characters to amplify their emotional significance. Take, for instance, how companions respond with greater compassion towards Astarion when he can no longer endure daylight.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 early patch notes – Alfira companion, new Evil endings, closed Beta registration, moreLarian Studios Companions will now react more emphatically when Astarion loses his immunity to the sun.

Lae’zel will hold back from leaving her recruitment post for a brief moment if you inform her of your imminent return. Later, when she is stationed at the campsite, she will exhibit a wider range of idle actions.

With this update, the problem of Lae’zel resurrecing on the beach in Act I and showing up in the Party Line without appearing in the game world will be resolved, allowing you to proceed smoothly from Act I.

Regarding Karlach’s improvements, she now responds when finding Dammon deceased after he promised assistance. Previously, there was an unintentional blackout following her last scene in Avernus, which included a brief gameplay peek of the area – this was an unwanted visual glitch that has been addressed.

I’m sad to say that the conversation snag that came up when I opted to stick with a different companion after our second romantic encounter with Karlach is now a thing of the past. And, regretfully, she no longer runs her camp idle animation by gently touching the shaved side of her head. Karlach, my wrong choice.

As a seasoned game developer with over a decade of experience under my belt, I can truly appreciate the meticulous work that goes into refining and polishing game elements. Having gone through countless iterations of animation adjustments, camera angle tweaks, and dialogue edits in my own projects, I can only imagine the dedication and expertise required to perfect Gale’s scenes and donation UI.

As a seasoned player with years of experience under my belt, I can tell you that Hotfix #16 was a game-changer for me. It not only enhanced the donation user interface but also gave players more control over their quest-related items. The team’s hard work paid off, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

Another option is to choose “I’m not providing you with anything at this moment or in the future,” which will result in Gale departing from your group permanently.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that a bothersome glitch has been fixed in our game. Previously, the heartwarming conversation between Gale and Mystra during the final dialogue wouldn’t play out, leaving us feeling incomplete. Additionally, a pivotal scene in the endgame used to cut off right before we could share a romantic moment. Now, you’ll be able to experience these scenes in their entirety! Enjoy the game with renewed enthusiasm.

Shadowheart’s EnhancementsThis update makes some improvements for Shadowheart, correcting several animation glitches and addressing various concerns with her questline. Previously, players encountered an issue where they didn’t receive the Spear of Night or were referenced as if they hadn’t obtained it yet – this problem has been resolved.

As a gamer, I’ve encountered an issue where Shadowheart, my character, keeps having these strange memories that make me think Viconia is still alive even after I’ve killed her. This glitch should be resolved now, so the “Daughter of Darkness” quest will conclude correctly if I decide to surrender Shadowheart to Viconia.

We’ve made some adjustments to the kissing scenes for her character as well. For instance, we repaired a broken romance scene that should have occurred after presenting Shadowheart with the Idol of Shar. Additionally, there will no longer be an unwanted kissing animation before the dialogue option is selected. We’ve also enhanced the visual appeal of neck kissing. As Michelangelo once said, “Art is never truly complete,” and our commitment to perfecting the art of romantic gestures remains unwavering.

Party Banter Improvements

Before this patch, only the companion characters controlled by one player could interact with each other through banter. But starting with Patch 7, banter will be enabled for characters belonging to different players in multiplayer parties.

With this update, certain romance-related conversations during adventures will no longer be unreachable.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit: Closed Alpha Progress

Larian Studios extended an invitation to Mod Authors to participate in a private testing phase, known as a Closed Alpha, for creating Baldur’s Gate 3 mods with the help of the new official modding tools, which will be available starting from Patch 7.

Some authors of mods, such as Padme4000, contributed their Dragonborn Scale Colors modification. Team TechRoot collaborated on the FaerûnColors mod, while LostSoul had the opportunity to evaluate the Toolkit’s user interface, offering additional suggestions.
