Dying Light: The Beast – Power Gambit Walkthrough

To establish yourself in Old Town, it’s important to make friends with the people who already live there. In the quest ‘Power Gambit‘ from Dying Light: The Beast, you’ll head to the Castor Woods power station to try and restore electricity.

This quest is fairly long and has some challenging sections. The goals can be a bit unclear, as you’ll need to do some searching to figure things out. This guide will walk you through everything required for this part of the main story in *Dying Light: The Beast*.

Reaching the Power Station

The plant’s location will be shown on your map, but you’ll need to look around when you arrive. A worker from Jacob’s team might try to stop you from going near the building, but you can proceed anyway. Head to the building pictured, then climb up to the open window using the small shed right beside it. Carefully move along the ledges, and you’ll eventually reach the window.

You’ll find Largo inside. He says there was an explosion in the main power building and he’s too scared to investigate. It’s your job to fix the problem and restore power.

Be sure to bring good weapons if you’re going there – you’ll face a lot of tough battles.

Once you’ve finished the brief conversation, go back outside and head to the building next door. Use the railings and pipes on the outside to climb to the window highlighted on your map. Be careful while climbing – the jumps and drops can be tricky! When you get inside, get ready for a fight and some puzzles.

How to Drain the Water

Just keep heading towards your quest marker, and you’ll arrive at the main turbine hall. However, the lower level, where the turbines are located, is flooded. You’ll need to find a way to pump out the water before you can start making repairs.

Swim into the flooded area and head to the next room. You’ll see bubbles rising from a broken pipe. When you get closer, your objectives will update. You need to turn two valves to shut off the water. Luckily, both valves are clearly marked, so you won’t get lost while underwater.

Above the large turbines, you’ll find air pockets. You can use these to rest and catch your breath instead of swimming all the way back to the beginning.

Stopping the valves will stop the leak, but the floodwater is still there. Now, you need to turn on the pumps. Go back to the main area and then head to the Control Room. Once there, find the Backup Generator room and start the generator by pressing the buttons.

To get everything working, you’ll need to connect the generator to the pump’s power supply. First, move the large cabinet that’s in the way of the small vent. Then, run the power cable through the vent, and you should be able to easily connect the generator to the pumps.

Activate the Turbines

With the floodwater cleared, head back to the turbine room and try to start the turbines. However, the water level is currently too low for them to operate, so you’ll also need to address that issue.

Head to Pipe 1C on the opposite side of the turbine room and check the red pipe at the top. You’ll need a valve wrench to operate it. To get one, return to area A and climb the vent beside the locked Storage Room door. Once you have the wrench, turn the valves on both pipes 1C and 2C, then go back to the turbine controls to switch them on. While you’re in the area, be sure to search the Storage Room shelves for useful items.

Go back and talk to Largo – you’ll be surprised by what you learn. It turns out he works for the Baron, and a lot of soldiers will try to capture you and bring you back to the lab. However, they’ll accidentally injure Kyle, which will make him incredibly angry and powerful. Take advantage of this to defeat everyone around you, then continue fighting your way to the roof to deal with the remaining soldiers.

Soldiers who fight up close will try to avoid or defend against your attacks. To hit them, time your blocks carefully – a well-timed block will briefly stun them, giving you an opening. If you’re struggling, try using weapons that attack from a distance, like bows or thrown knives.

Once you’ve dealt with the soldiers, return to the town hall and talk to the Sheriff and Jacob. You’ll hear from Pietro, the town hall’s handyman, about fixing the power, but you can address that later.

Dying Light: The Beast – Power Gambit Bug Fix

Some players are experiencing a bug where the game stops progressing after completing the Power Gambit quest. If you finish the fight and the quest doesn’t update, try going back to the main menu and reloading your save. If that doesn’t work, intentionally let your character die – this should reset the game’s progress and allow you to continue.
