Borderlands 4 has improved its sense of humor, successfully mixing serious moments with genuinely funny jokes. Many of the game’s side quests are actually hilarious, and we’ve put together a guide to the funniest ones. Below, you’ll find a list of our favorites, along with details on how to start them and where to find them in the world of Kairos. While the list isn’t ranked, we’re confident you’ll enjoy these missions and have a good laugh!
Pottymouth
Assist Claptrap With Breaking Up With His 10-Minute Murderous Girlfriend

- Location: Embracer’s Bluff, Lopside, Carcadia Burn
GenIVIV, the dangerous AI previously stuck in a toilet on Sanctuary 3, is back – and once again, she’s inhabiting a toilet! Players can enlist Claptrap’s help to find her a new body. What follows is a short-lived romance: Claptrap quickly realizes he prefers life without someone constantly fawning over him. Their relationship is full of funny moments and witty conversations, and GenIVIV continues her violent rampage as usual.
Flat Kairoser
Convince a Man That Kairos is Not Flat

- Location: Cuspid Climb, Terminus Range
It’s incredibly annoying when you can’t get through to someone during an argument, and that’s the heart of the Flat Kairoser mission. The Vault Hunters encounter Sam, a man convinced the planet Kairos is flat, despite all evidence to the contrary. He’s completely unshakeable, and the Vault Hunters may have to resort to… forceful persuasion to prove him wrong. The mission is a humorous take on stubbornness, as Sam’s personality and bizarre beliefs feel surprisingly relatable – and frustratingly real. Will he ever accept he’s living on a flat world, or is he too set in his ways?
Crack This Guy’s Back
Become Kairos’ Only Chiropractor

- Location: Sainted Cup, Stoneblood Forest, Terminus Range
The Vault Hunters usually focus on causing damage, not healing it, but this side mission takes a funny turn. “Crack This Guy’s Back” is short but memorable – you’re asked to crack a man’s back, and he *really* enjoys it, constantly wanting more. It quickly becomes clear he’s a bit of a masochist! You’ll need to get increasingly inventive (and forceful) with your back-cracking techniques, and the results are hilarious.
AAA for Effort
Help Max Sky Find His Passion Again

- Location: Terminus District, Dominion City
While exploring a facility in Dominion, Vault Hunters will discover a man stuck inside a mech he built himself. This man, named Max Sky, is determined to reach space, but being confined to the mech has caused him to lose sight of who he is. The ‘AAA for Effort’ side mission tasks players with helping Max fulfill his dream of escaping Kairos and traveling to the stars. So, jump in and give a passionate, Mr. Torgue-like character a helping hand!
Wayward Gun
Stop AI-Enhanced Tediore Guns, Pokemon Style

- Location: Dusk’s Advent, Cuspid Climb, Terminus Range
Tediore guns have always been known for being cheap, but a new focus on artificial intelligence has gone horribly wrong. Now, the guns are alive and attacking their former owners, leading to a chaotic ‘gunpocalypse’! Vault Hunters are sent to hunt down and destroy these talking, walking weapons, but they can also collect them – it’s like a dark take on *Pokemon*. Expect to battle characters who are clearly inspired by Team Rocket’s Jesse and James, and prepare for a massive, solo fight against an army of intelligent guns.
Ready to Blow
Convince a Lone Missile That She’s Not a Dud, But a Firework

- Location: Idolator’s Noose, the Fadefields
Ready to Blow is a heartwarming game, though not a particularly hilarious one. You’ll explore a small town centered around the core of a bomb that never went off. This bomb has a simple wish: to prove she’s not a failure and finally explode, but she needs the right casing to do it. Players join forces with the AI to help her achieve this goal, culminating in a visually stunning event. It won’t have you in stitches, but doing the right thing feels genuinely good.
Sage Against the Machine
Take Guidance and Therapy from a Ripper Psycho

- Location: Stoneblood Forest, Terminus Range
You definitely shouldn’t take life advice from someone called a Ripper – they’re essentially unstable individuals who’ve sacrificed their sanity for freedom. But this Ripper is unusual. He’s become a life coach, and surprisingly, he might actually have some valuable lessons for the Vault Hunters about finding peace and understanding their purpose. It’s ironic hearing wisdom from a murderer, and the story’s conclusion is well worth experiencing.
The Power Ballad of Rodd Vomit
Assemble a Talented Band of Rippers

- Location: The Couch Hole, Grindstone of the Worthy, Carcadia Burn
In the chaotic world of Carcadia Burn, bringing together its most notorious Rippers results in an incredibly powerful heavy metal band – one destined to top the charts! Thrum Dumpster is searching for fresh musical acts, and Vault Hunters have been assigned the unusual task of finding a replacement for the singer Rodd Vomit. Instead of mayhem, however, players might be surprised to find themselves enjoying a concert from the very Rippers they’ve unleashed.
Imminent Jest
Play a Practical Joke on Brotherly Rippers

- Location: Wallowing Heights, Lopside, Carcadia Burn
A Ripper is asking Vault Hunters for help, but surprisingly, it’s not for anything dangerous. He just wants to pull off some harmless pranks! It’s endearing to see such a tough character wanting to have a little fun, so why not join in and help two Ripper brothers playfully prank each other?
Sum of His Parts
Rebuild Claptrap and Ensure He Never Learns That Actions Have Consequences

- Location: Racketrun, Idolator’s Noose, the Fadefields
Claptrap consistently repeats his errors, which isn’t surprising considering Vault Hunters are always there to bail him out. The ‘Sum of His Parts’ quest starts with Claptrap literally falling apart – you’ll even find his eye in the trash! Players need to reassemble him, uncovering the story behind why someone would do this to him, even if it means causing a lot of collateral damage. The reason for his disassembly is actually quite funny, and Claptrap’s unfiltered personality always provides some comedic relief.
