Best One Piece Games Worth Playing In 2025

2025 has been an exciting year for One Piece fans! The manga has entered the highly anticipated Elbaf Arc, and the anime is now adapting the thrilling conclusion of the Egghead Arc. As this beloved action series continues to grow in popularity, many fans are hoping for a video game that lets them experience the story firsthand.

Even though they’re older, many past *One Piece* games are still fun to play in 2025. From classic RPGs to expansive open-world experiences, these games should satisfy any *One Piece* fan.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

This Five-Year-Old Game Is Getting A Next-Gen Update And More DLC Characters

The *Pirate Warriors* series is known for its exciting, action-packed gameplay, and *One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4* is a standout title. Released in 2020, it retells popular story arcs like Marineford, Whole Cake Island, and Wano Country. It also introduces a lot of characters never before playable in a *One Piece* game, including Big Mom, Kaido, and Germa 66.

Despite being released five years ago and followed by several other *One Piece* games on consoles, *Pirate Warriors 4* continues to receive updates and downloadable content. A next-generation version for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 is planned for release later this year, along with new DLC featuring popular characters like Rob Lucci, Enel, King, and Z. This makes 2025 a great time to experience this enjoyable and action-packed Musou game.

One Piece Odyssey

A Nostalgic Turn-Based RPG

The newest *One Piece* game for consoles is *One Piece Odyssey*, an RPG created by ILCA, the team that also made *Sand Land* and *Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl*. Being the most recent release, it boasts the best graphics in the series, with vibrant and detailed visuals that perfectly capture the colorful, cartoonish style of the *One Piece* anime and manga.

One Piece Odyssey is an easy-to-pick-up and enjoyable turn-based RPG with lots of flashy attacks. What really makes it special, though, are the levels based on memorable story arcs like Arabasta, Enies Lobby, and Marineford. With DLC available and frequent sales, it’s a great game for One Piece fans who also enjoy Japanese role-playing games.

One Piece: World Seeker

The Only True Open-World Game In The Franchise

Turn-based RPGs aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, so some *One Piece* fans might prefer a more accessible and popular game. Luckily, *One Piece: World Seeker* delivers the modern, open-world experience they’ve wanted for years, and it’s a genuinely enjoyable game.

Players step into the shoes of Luffy in *World Seeker*, an open-world adventure set on the non-canon Prison Island. Using Luffy’s stretchy powers, you’ll explore a large map, gather items, complete quests, and battle challenging enemies and bosses. The combat is especially fun, letting you improve Luffy’s abilities and unlock cool new moves as you play. Like *Odyssey*, *World Seeker* is a newer game with three downloadable expansions and frequent sales, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a fun open-world experience with a beloved anime character.

One Piece: Burning Blood

The Quintessential 3D Arena Fighter Of The One Piece Franchise

Most anime series get multiple 3D fighting games, but *One Piece* only had one – and it’s surprisingly good. Developed by Spike Chunsoft, known for games like *J-Stars Victory VS* and *One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows*, *One Piece: Burning Blood* stands out as one of the most fun and engaging fighting games based on the franchise.

As a huge One Piece fan, I was really surprised by how fun and smooth the combat in this game is – it feels way better than other fighting games trying to do the same thing! And the character roster is *massive* – you can play as over forty characters, including all of the Straw Hats, plus big names like Crocodile, Whitebeard, and even Blackbeard! It’s a little disappointing that it came out before some of the newer, incredibly powerful characters like Kaido or Oden were introduced in the anime, so they aren’t included. Honestly, this game *needs* a sequel or at least a next-gen upgrade with more characters, kind of like what happened with Pirate Warriors 4. It would be amazing!

One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum

Arc System Works’ Excellent (Albeit Forgotten) Foray Into The One Piece Franchise

As a huge anime fan, especially of fighting games, I know a lot of us weren’t thrilled with the 3D *One Piece* arena fighters. We’ve been begging Bandai Namco and Shueisha to let Arc System Works – the team behind the amazing *Dragon Ball FighterZ* – make a 2D *One Piece* fighter, and it would be awesome! But a lot of people don’t realize Arc System Works *already* made something similar! It’s called One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum, and it’s a great way to get that 2D *One Piece* fighting fix while we wait for a newer, more modern game.

Great Pirate Colosseum is a 2D fighting game based on One Piece that many fans have been hoping for. It features incredibly detailed character sprites with smooth animations and a deep, rewarding combat system. What’s really unique is that it allows cross-play with Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, letting you create epic battles between characters from both One Piece and Dragon Ball. It’s important to note that this game was only released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS, so you’ll need to import a copy to play it, but most fans agree it’s well worth the effort.

One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X

It’s Basically Super Smash Bros X One Piece

  • Platform: Nintendo 3DS
  • Released: November 13, 2014
  • Developer: Ganbarion
  • Genre: Fighting

A lot of *One Piece* fans think the show’s fun, cartoonish style would be a great fit for a fighting game like Nintendo’s *Super Smash Bros.* series. Interestingly, a *Super Smash Bros.style game featuring *One Piece* characters actually exists – it’s a Japan-exclusive Nintendo 3DS title called One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X.

This game lets up to four players battle each other using a variety of characters, power-ups, and dynamic arenas. The fighting is simpler than in *Great Pirate Colosseum*, making it great for fun, casual play with friends. It’s clear the developers acknowledged the similarities to *Super Smash Bros.*, as *Super Grand Battle! X* includes unlockable outfits for the Straw Hat crew inspired by iconic Nintendo characters like Mario, Link, Samus, and Kirby. A modern remake for the Nintendo Switch or its successor would be fantastic.

One Piece: Unlimited Trilogy

Three Excellent Adventure Games With Multiple Playable Characters

Considering how much *One Piece* focuses on adventure, surprisingly few of its video games are action-adventure titles. However, the exceptions are particularly well-regarded and stand out as some of the best in the series. The popular *Unlimited* trilogy – consisting of *One Piece: Unlimited Adventure*, *One Piece: Unlimited Cruise*, and *One Piece: Unlimited World Red* – offers three consistently enjoyable experiences.

As a big *One Piece* fan, I’ve always loved the *Unlimited* games. They’re like classic action-adventure titles – think *Zelda* or *Okami* – where you get to play as all the Straw Hat Pirates! Each character has their own special skills you use to explore these cool, semi-open worlds, solve puzzles, find hidden items, and battle enemies. Honestly, the *Unlimited* trilogy just feels different from other *One Piece* games – it’s a must-play for anyone who’s been with the series for a while. The first two, *Unlimited Adventure* and *Unlimited Cruise*, are a bit tricky to get into since they’re only on the Wii. But the third one, *Unlimited World Red*, got a really nice updated version for PC, PlayStation 4, and Switch back in 2017. Just be warned, *World Red* leans more heavily into the action side of things than the puzzle and exploration aspects.
