A new update for *Stardew Valley* is coming, as announced by the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, during a concert celebrating the game’s music. This was a surprise, since Barone had previously stated he was focusing on his next project, *Haunted Chocolatier*. It appears he wants to add a little more to *Stardew Valley* for its dedicated fans, and they are thrilled about the news of at least one more update.
Players are really looking forward to the upcoming 1.7 update for *Stardew Valley* because updates with this level of detail usually only happen when major new features are added. Although the developers haven’t revealed much about what’s included in update 1.7, past updates have lived up to player expectations. Many fans believe a ‘Warp Totem’ for the Community Center – something that hasn’t been added yet – would be a great addition, and could be included in what might be the game’s last major update.
Why Stardew Valley Needs Totem Fast Travel to the Community Center
The Community Center is central to the experience of *Stardew Valley*, and doesn’t require much introduction. Like many farming games such as *Harvest Moon*, finding a spouse is a common goal alongside running a farm. In *Stardew Valley*, restoring the Community Center is a major objective that significantly impacts your progress. It’s a much more fulfilling path than letting Joja Mart take over, offering a more active and rewarding story. However, it can be quite confusing due to the bundles and the sometimes difficult-to-find items needed – though how easily you gather them really depends on your playstyle. Despite the complexity, it’s a very worthwhile endeavor.
The most exhausting part of restoring the Community Center isn’t actually completing the bundles-it’s simply getting there. While *Stardew Valley* has always included Warp Totems for fast travel, and they’ve been updated to include the desert and Ginger Island, the closest teleport location-the Mountains-still requires a considerable walk. If players try to reach the Community Center late at night after a long day, they risk passing out. This makes the Community Center inconvenient for players who enjoy maximizing their daily progress unless they specifically plan for the trip.

Many players find managing inventory and time to be the most challenging parts of *Stardew Valley*. Like real farming, the game requires careful planning and prioritizing tasks within a limited time each day to keep your farm productive. While there’s no strict deadline to finish the Community Center, the effort required to complete its bundles might be the reason the developers haven’t added a fast travel option.
The Community Center is a major part of *Stardew Valley* that players have to actively choose to focus on, even though it can be challenging. If players prefer an easier route, they can opt for a Joja membership and turn the Community Center into a Joja Warehouse. However, since the game subtly discourages choosing the Joja path, the effort and time invested in restoring the Community Center might be the real goal, making fast travel less important.
Many *Stardew Valley* players enjoy pushing themselves to maximize their daily progress, so adding a fast travel option could be a good idea. Perhaps a permanent teleporter could be awarded to players who complete challenges quickly, identifying those who prefer a difficult experience over a relaxed one. Since *Stardew Valley* might be adding fast travel to the Community Center anyway, the upcoming 1.7 update would be a logical time to implement it, considering the developer’s future plans are uncertain.
