As a long-time fan of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and its critically acclaimed Yakuza series, I can hardly contain my excitement for the developer’s upcoming game announcement at Tokyo Game Show 2024. Having grown up with Kazuma Kiryu and his adventures in the seedy underworld of Kamurocho, I’ve become a dedicated fan of RGG Studio’s unique blend of action, drama, and humor.
As an excited fan, I can’t wait for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio to unveil their next game in September 2024! This renowned Sega subsidiary, known for creating the Like a Dragon series, has confirmed the announcement. For those of us who have followed their work closely, there might be some unexpected twists and turns with this new project. The developers themselves seem to believe that they’ll leave some fans pleasantly surprised!
Although famous for its “Like a Dragon” series, previously named “Yakuza,” RGG Studio sometimes works on other projects. One such example is their latest release, the highly praised “Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble,” which came out as an exclusive for Nintendo Switch in June 2024.
Like a Dragon Developer’s Next Game Will Be Announced at TGS 2024
Tokyo-based RGG Studio is set to reveal its upcoming game at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2024. They confirmed their attendance during a mid-July livestream (as reported by VGC). The Tokyo Game Show, which runs from September 26 to September 29, will be the stage for this announcement. Given that exhibitors often disclose their lineups ahead of time, the reveal could potentially happen on September 25.
RGG Studio Says Its Next Game Will Surprise Fans
At the “Essence of Fandom” event during Anime Expo in early July, RGG Studio hinted that their upcoming game will surprise fans, offering no further details.
Based on the trailer’s hints, it seems unlikely that the upcoming game will be a typical addition to the Like a Dragon series. Given the current success of the franchise, with Infinite Wealth being its fastest-selling installment in February, announcing another mainline game would not come as a shock from RGG Studio.
As an avid fan, I’m excitedly anticipating the TGS 2024 reveal for the latest addition to the “Like a Dragon” series. However, it’s important to note that this announcement might not be directly connected to the main franchise. With RGG Studio and Sega aiming to keep the momentum going, I believe we can expect another spin-off instead.
