The summer event for League of Legends‘ Anima Squad, announced by Riot Games, introduces a new cooperative gameplay mode named “Operation: Swarm.”
In simpler terms, the game creator refers to it as a “highly engaging, shoot-em-up PvE experience inside Anima Squad’s universe.” Here, groups of up to four players face endless hordes of Primordian enemies. Regardless of the outcome, every attempt enhances players’ abilities for future battles.
Here’s the official word on the mode:
Up to three friends can join forces with players, selecting from an esteemed list of Anima Squad members, to collectively battle as humankind’s salvation against the Primordians.
Using the WASD keys, gamers can explore a freshly designed Final City map, eliminating adversaries, finishing tasks, and enduring for as long as it takes.
During the course of the fight, players have the ability to acquire and enhance potent weapons and recruit fresh Anima Squad members. These additions will aid in fending off waves of adversaries attempting to seize control and require players to adapt their tactics.
Players have the opportunity to enhance their abilities permanently between matches by using earned gold to buy Power Ups. These power-ups bestow lasting advantages, enabling teams to gain an edge in upcoming field operations, allowing players to advance more effectively in each contest.
From the depths of the surging oceans, ancient beings awaken. These Primordians, guardians of the Earth’s balance, have set their sights on us humans. Their mission: wipe us out. The Primordian menace has driven humanity to the edge of extinction. For decades, remnants of civilization huddled in the shadows, resigned to our fate. But from the ashes of our world rises Final City, a beacon of hope. Anima Squad, Final City’s elite squad of super-powered warriors, armed with reclaimed Primordian technology, leads the charge against organic life’s adversaries. We’re not going down without a fight!
The Anima Squad event begins on Wednesday, July 17th, and continues until August 19th; this is a Monday. In simpler terms, the event kicks off on the 17th of July (Wednesday), and concludes on the 19th of August (Monday).
