As a long-time Call of Duty fan and someone who has spent countless hours mastering movement mechanics in past games, I find it disappointing that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not allow players to turn off its new Omnimovement feature. The ability to sprint and dive in eight different directions is certainly an exciting addition, but as someone who prefers a more traditional multiplayer experience, I would have appreciated the option to opt out.


In the upcoming game, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” the new movement system, named Omnimovement, cannot be disabled for those seeking a more conventional multiplayer experience. During the recent “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” Direct presentation, Omnimovement was unveiled, demonstrating that players could sprint in various directions, including backwards, sideways, and diagonally. This addition may bring about new tactics for catching opponents off guard. The feature will be incorporated across all three game modes – campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies – with plans to introduce it to “Warzone” following the launch as well.

A new installment in the Call of Duty: Black Oops series, following directly on from Black Ops 2 and Black Ops Cold War, is here with Black Ops 6. This game takes us back to the early ’90s, focusing on the background of the Gulf War. Fans of the franchise can look forward to the return of characters Russell Adler and Frank Woods. At launch, there will be sixteen fresh multiplayer maps set in the ’90s theme, as well as two Zombies maps that mark the comeback of round-based Zombie mode, which has been absent since Black Ops Cold War in 2020.

In the inaugural episode of the freshly launched Call of Duty Podcast, Stephanie Snowden, senior communications director for Call of Duty, revealed that the innovative Omnimovement system in Black Ops 6 cannot be disabled across all three game modes. Black Ops 6 Players Can’t Turn Off Omnimovement

Players used to moving around in newer versions of Call of Duty might find issue with the compulsory use of Omnimovement in Black Ops 6, particularly at advanced levels where mastering its nuances becomes essential to keep up. Additionally, turning off Omnimovement would put players at a significant disadvantage against opponents who can sprint and dive in multiple directions. The implementation of different movement systems could potentially cause balancing problems as well. Black Ops 6’s mandatory use of Omnimovement bears resemblance to Call of Duty’s jetpack system, which was introduced in Advanced Warfare and heavily utilized in Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare.

Fans of “Call of Duty” have the opportunity to experiment with Omnimovement during the open beta of “Black Ops 6,” which is scheduled to start in August. Following that, the game will officially be released on October 25. It’s worth mentioning that Xbox users can obtain the complete game at no extra cost on launch day if they have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, thanks to Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
