Enthusiasts are looking forward to the debut of Reacher season 3 on Prime Video, with filming reportedly completed and a projected launch in 2025. Meanwhile, Alan Ritchson, the show’s leading man, has hit the ground running with his upcoming action flick Motor City. Taking on an entirely new character for this project presented a significant hurdle, but such is the dedication of one of Tinseltown’s most versatile actors.

In an Instagram update, Ritchson announced his upcoming film, “Motor City,” and expressed his transition to this fresh endeavor.
In just a few days, how do you undergo a total makeover to shift from the character of Reacher to your new role in the gripping period action film, “#MotorCity”?
I was thrilled when Ritchson announced in May 2024 that “Reacher” season 3 was in the works. But, during a recent interview, he shared some disappointing news. He indicated that it’s uncertain if we’ll get to see the new season this year. The earliest possible release date, according to him, is in 2025 on Prime Video. Ritchson expressed his eagerness to continue portraying Reacher as long as there are source materials from Lee Child’s books to fuel future seasons.
Instead of the collaborative approach featured in “Reacher” season 2, where the 110th Special Investigators supported Jack Reacher significantly, the forthcoming season appears to be more about a lone mission for Reacher. However, his trusted friend, Frances Neagley, will offer some help. In season 3, Reacher assumes an undercover role to disrupt a drug ring led by Zachary Peck (Anthony Michael Hall).

In the gritty and exhilarating “Motor City,” Alan Ritchson portrays John Miller, a dedicated auto-worker with a loving girlfriend named Shailene Woodley. However, their idyllic life is shattered when Miller is falsely accused of a crime by a dangerous local gangster, Ben Foster. Consequently, Miller is wrongfully incarcerated. Upon his release from prison, Miller is fueled by a desire for vengeance against those who framed him, while simultaneously trying to win back the heart of his girlfriend who remained faithful during his absence.
In Detroit, the upcoming movie is planned to join the ranks of stylish action films such as “John Wick” and “Nobody.” With his impressive display of action sequences in “Reacher,” Ritchson demonstrates his expertise. Moreover, his acting abilities are noteworthy, allowing him to create intriguing, fully-developed characters. Ritchson shed some light on his preparation for “Motor City” via his Instagram account.
My aim is to create a character that feels authentic and lifelike for you. Working continuously without breaks makes it challenging for me to achieve this fully, but I’ll get as close as possible to making it indistinguishable from reality. I won’t hold back or play it safe. Motor City will offer you an experience unlike any other.
Potsy Ponciroli, renowned for helming “Old Henry” and “Greedy People,” will assume control over “Motor City.” Principal photography commenced on July 10 in New Jersey and AlUla, Saudi Arabia, with Stampede Ventures overseeing the film’s production. Twelve-time Grammy Award winner Jack White serves as the musical director for “Motor City,” contributing his distinct style to the movie’s soundtrack.
John Berg, head of production at Stampede Ventures, shared some additional information about the upcoming initiative.
