Once Human Issues 10 Year Bans to Cheaters

Highlights

  • Over 400 accounts received 10-year bans for cheating in the new free-to-play open-world survival shooter Once Human.
  • Some players exploited bugs to gain an unfair advantage, impacting the fairness of the game.
  • Starry Studio is working to improve Once Human after its launch was marred by server issues and concerns over the game’s privacy policy.

As a passionate fan of open-world survival shooters, I was thrilled to dive into Once Human when it launched last week. However, my initial excitement quickly turned sour as I encountered numerous issues that negatively impacted the game’s fairness and overall experience.

Starry Studios, the creator of “Once Human,” has banned over 400 accounts from playing the game for a decade as a consequence of cheating. This free-to-play open-world title was released for PC gamers on July 9.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve been eagerly exploring the post-apocalyptic world of Once Human. In this survival shooter, my team and I scour the open landscape for vital resources while braving dangerous creatures. However, just like many other games at their debut, we encountered some bugs that affected gameplay. The developer has been working tirelessly since launch to address these issues.

Once Human recently disclosed that they took action against unfair gameplay by suspending 430 accounts for a total of 3600 days, which is equivalent to almost a decade. These accounts were penalized for employing unauthorized third-party software in the game. Moreover, an additional 18 accounts were suspended due to exploiting a glitch that granted players access to Engagement Zones in restricted areas. The length of these suspensions ranged from one week to a month. Consequently, all items acquired by these players have been deleted from their accounts. The statement concluded by confirming that the bug has been rectified.

Once Human Devs Are Cracking Down On Cheaters

The developer of “Once Human” asked gamers to share instances where the game’s fairness was at risk through the integrated reporting tool or the Discord platform. They clarified that these reports are examined and consequences are given to offending players following this assessment. Based on recent stringent bans, it seems Starry Studio is committed to enhancing “Once Human”‘s multiplayer mode by taking action against rule-breaking accounts.

As an avid fan of this game, I can’t help but express my disappointment with some of the challenges it has faced since its launch. Cheating and exploits have been a problem, which is common in online titles, but what really concerns me is the server issues. These technical difficulties have had a significant impact on the gaming experience for many players, myself included. Additionally, there have been concerns raised about Once Human‘s privacy policy regarding how player data is handled.
