Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2 Should Use Wednesday’s Powers More

Netflix's Wednesday Season 2 Should Use Wednesday's Powers More

Highlights

  • Wednesday Season 2 should focus more on Wednesday’s psychic powers to add depth and intrigue to the storyline.
  • Introducing a storyline where Wednesday is in control of her stalker could add humor and highlight her cleverness.
  • Other characters with powers at Nevermore Academy should also have their abilities explored in more engaging ways in Season 2.

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of the Addams Family lore, I was thrilled to see Jenna Ortega bring Wednesday Addams to life in the Netflix series “Wednesday.” However, while the show delivered on the mystery, friendship, and dark humor that the Addams Family is known for, I felt that there was room for improvement when it came to exploring Wednesday’s psychic abilities.

In the first season of Wednesday on Netflix, we unravel the enigma of Wednesday, her friendships, and a questionable romance. Additionally, Jenna Ortega’s character is revealed to possess psychic abilities. However, instead of delving deep into her magical abilities, the show primarily concentrates on her premonitions of future events. While it’s intriguing to watch Wednesday discover major upcoming occurrences, her powers are largely unclear. This creates an air of mystery but fails to fully engage as it could.

As a dedicated gamer and an avid fan of “Wednesday” from “The Addams Family,” I believe that in crafting the next chapter, we shouldn’t shy away from incorporating the humorous and iconic elements that have made this franchise so beloved. However, to keep our audience engaged and craving more, we must delve deeper into Wednesday’s psychic abilities. By doing so, we not only enhance the current season but also create exciting opportunities for potential storylines in a hypothetical “Wednesday” Season 3.

How Can Wednesday Season 2 Feature The Character’s Powers More Effectively?Netflix's Wednesday Season 2 Should Use Wednesday's Powers More

As an avid fan, I’m excitedly imagining how in the second season of “Wednesday,” I could be witnessing a captivating plotline unfold where Wednesday Addams takes charge of her stalker. Given that the upcoming series is promised to deliver a horror movie-like experience, it seems fitting for the audience’s attention to shift from the one being watched to the one doing the watching. As shared by Miles Millar, one of the co-creators, on Netflix’s tudum.com:

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “The danger from the stalker still lingers – the menace of potential harm hasn’t vanished with Crackstone. There could be other threats looming for Wednesday and the school that we haven’t encountered yet.”

In order to keep things engaging for “Wednesday” viewers and avoid monotony with Wednesday constantly having visions of a stalker or future events, season 2 could introduce an element of humor. This could be achieved by having Wednesday deliberately mislead her stalker with false visions, showcasing her wit and intelligence. By doing so, she could buy some time to devise a plan for capturing the stalker and uncovering their identity. This approach would maintain the show’s dark tone while incorporating lighter moments that highlight Wednesday’s rebellious character. Additionally, Wednesday could explore the mysterious pasts of Nevermore Academy teachers, enabling her to play tricks on them or discover strategies for excelling in their classes. Her psychic abilities should be more intertwined with her defiant personality.

Wednesday season 2 should also use Wednesday’s powers to help her achieve what she wants. Since she’s a mischievous and smart character, this would fit with her character development so far. Wednesday could also use her ability to see the future to figure out Tyler Galpin’s (Hunter Doohan) true intentions, which would make Tyler’s Wednesday season 2 plotline more compelling as well. Since it’s unclear if he’s really good or evil at this point, using her powers in this way would feel fun, cool, creative, and helpful.

As a longtime fan of “Wednesday” from the Addams Family series, I strongly believe that giving Wednesday more control over her psychic abilities would significantly enhance the storyline for season 2 and beyond. Based on my personal observation, the first season’s portrayal of Wednesday’s sudden visions felt random and unpredictable, making it less engaging for me as a viewer.

Which Other Wednesday Season 2 Characters Have Powers?

Netflix's Wednesday Season 2 Should Use Wednesday's Powers More

On Wednesdays in season 1 of this series, some characters, including Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White), Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie), Yoko Tanaka (Naomi J. Ogawa), and Tyler, possess unique abilities due to their attendance at Nevermore Academy. Xavier can bring his sketches to life, Larissa can transform into different forms, Yoko is a vampire, and Tyler becomes The Hyde Monster. The primary theme of Wednesday’s season 1 journey was her feeling like an Outsider, which enabled her to enroll in Nevermore where all students believe they will find security, protection, and acceptance. Since Wednesday herself possesses powers, she too is a fitting member of the academy.

In the second season of “Wednesday,” although those three particular characters won’t make an appearance, two captivating characters with magical abilities are set to return: werewolf Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and siren Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday). If Enid is more prominently present in the series, it would be intriguing to explore her powers further. The same can be said for Bianca’s abilities. To keep audiences engaged, both characters should utilize their magical talents more frequently and in a more captivating manner throughout “Wednesday” season 2.
