Palworld has been updated frequently since its release, but the largest update, version 1.0, is still in development. According to the creators at Pocketpair, the full 1.0 version is expected in 2026 and will include a significant amount of new content. Before launching it, Pocketpair wants to fix technical problems and improve the game’s overall performance. Because of this, they won’t be adding as much new content to Palworld for the rest of 2025 as they usually do.
Beyond what’s already been announced, very little is known about what the 1.0 update for *Palworld* will include. Pocketpair previously shared a development roadmap, but it’s unclear whether all those features will be in the 1.0 update or released sooner. The developers plan to share more details in the coming weeks. However, they’ve already revealed a major new addition that was actually already in the game, unnoticed by players.
The World Tree Will Be Introduced in Palworld’s Upcoming 1.0 Update
Pocketpair’s Communications Director, Bucky, recently shared on Twitter that the 1.0 update for *Palworld* will include a fully functional World Tree. The World Tree is a large, mysterious landmark located on a small, currently inaccessible island at the very northern edge of the game map. Players can see the island, but are blocked from reaching it by two massive barriers, even when trying to fly there with a Pal.
Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, included “World Tree / Ending Scenario” on their update roadmap released earlier this year.

The World Tree Will Be the Place Where the Ending of Palworld Takes Place
From the beginning, players have suspected the World Tree would be important to the ending of *Palworld*, and the game’s creator, Bucky, recently confirmed this. He revealed that the main story will conclude at the World Tree. Pocketpair, the developers, have actually planned this ending for a while, which explains why the World Tree has been in the game since launch. However, this isn’t the end for *Palworld*; the team still intends to add more content and updates in the future.

To This Day, the Purpose that the World Tree Serves is Still a Mystery
Players have been trying to figure out the importance of the World Tree in the world of *Palworld*. It’s usually hard to understand a game’s story if the game doesn’t focus on it, but fans have discovered clues in the game’s journal entries. One entry, from Day 6 of Castaway’s Journal, was written before the game’s events by an explorer who had some ideas about the tree. This explorer believed the tree might be the legendary World Tree found in myths and religions around the globe. They also thought the tree could be responsible for the fog covering the game’s map, keeping the Pals hidden from the outside world.

Pocketpair WIll Probably Add a Lot of Content to the Island that the World Tree is Located On
Even though we don’t yet know the full story purpose of the World Tree in *Palworld*, the area around it will likely receive significant updates. Pocketpair might add a powerful new boss or introduce characters who live there, expanding the game’s narrative. However, unless Pocketpair reveals more details soon, *Palworld* players will probably have to wait until 2026 to discover the World Tree’s mysteries.
