On March 28, 2025, the new game titled InZOI will become available for Early Access. InZOI, a fresh entrant into the life simulation genre, promises all the familiar elements that are commonly found in such games, including a character creator, building mode, jobs, different life stages, relationships, and an integrated messaging system within the game itself. In 2024, InZOI shared a demo of its character creation feature, which was met with an enthusiastic response from the gaming community.
In the realm of life simulation games, InZOI, boasting a unique hyperrealistic art style, diverse life stages, and an innovative personality system unlike any other in its genre, could potentially dominate the market. This game offers players the ability to craft unique characters, referred to as “Zois,” with an array of customization options and features. The versatility of these customization tools allows for countless Zois to appear physically distinct from one another. However, what truly sets life simulation games apart is the depth of personality and individuality that can be cultivated, a factor where InZOI excels significantly, differentiating it from its closest competitors.
What is the Enneagram System?
In The Sims 4, you can customize each character’s personality by selecting traits from a variety of options. These traits are not only chosen at the start but can also develop during gameplay. Initially, The Sims 4 comes with a collection of traits, yet players can expand this list using additional content and Reward Events within the game. This unique mix of individual traits gives each Sim a distinct personality that makes them stand out among others in their virtual world.
In contrast to The Sims 4, the personality system in InZOI is based on the Enneagram system rather than a mix of individual traits. The Enneagram categorizes personalities into nine distinct profiles that are interconnected, and each personality is further defined by a primary type, along with one or two subtypes known as wings, which provide additional depth to an individual’s character.
Using Personality Typing in Creative Mediums
As a gamer, I find the Enneagram personality typing fascinating, even though some view it as more of a creative tool than a scientific fact. In my own gaming experiences, especially when crafting characters for games like story-driven titles such as InZOI, I’ve discovered that using personality frameworks like the Enneagram or MBTI can really bring a character to life. It helps me create rich and believable personalities, and even predict how they might act within the game’s narrative. For me, establishing a well-rounded character with a distinct personality is an essential part of immersing myself in the game world.
InZOI’s Trait System Explained
InZOI‘s character creator assigns two unique wing characteristics to each of the nine Enneagram types, resulting in a total of eighteen distinct personality types. Although these traits are reminiscent of the Enneagram and share similar personality profiles, the personality profile for a Zoi is not an exact match to the Enneagram system.

Yet, when they experience boredom, it tends to linger longer than in Zois with distinct personalities.
The Drawbacks of this System
Employing the Enneagram for InZOI‘s character system is an effective method to develop Zois that appear authentic and well-rounded. Nevertheless, eighteen personality types might not suffice, and additional ones may be necessary during InZOI‘s Early Access phase, particularly when players are unable to combine traits individually.
