Techland has released a first update for their new game, Dying Light: The Beast, fixing some problems players noticed after its September 18th launch. Originally planned as downloadable content for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Dying Light: The Beast evolved into a complete, standalone game within the popular post-apocalyptic survival horror series.
The highly anticipated game based on the popular zombie series received over a million pre-orders, so Techland surprised players by releasing *Dying Light: The Beast* a day ahead of schedule. Players who pre-ordered the game also received exclusive rewards, including the APEX car skin – a glowing, Volatile-themed vehicle cosmetic – in addition to the previously announced “Hero of Harran” bundle, which features the Harran Combat Knife, In Jade’s Memory Pistol, The Follower Crossbow, Castor Woods Patrol vehicle skin, and the Ultimate Survivor Outfit.
Dying Light: The Beast Releases Hotfix 1.2.1
The game received its first update, patch 1.2.1, on September 22nd. This update fixes a couple of rare issues some players were having with indoor rain and the day/night cycle in *Dying Light: The Beast*. Most players likely didn’t encounter these bugs. The update also includes a special car skin (APEX) for players who pre-ordered the game, which is now available in their in-game stash.
Techland previously committed to five years of updates and new content for *Dying Light 2: Stay Human*, and fans are eager to see if they’ll offer similar long-term support for the new installment. *Dying Light: The Beast* is currently the highest-rated game in the series, with an 82% average score from critics on OpenCritic. It brings back the original main character, Kyle Crane, improves the game’s signature parkour movement, and delivers the thrilling, zombie-filled experience players love.

Techland, the team behind the popular *Dying Light* series, is already brainstorming ideas for a fourth game, which is thrilling both new and long-time fans. However, their current priority is supporting their latest release and delivering promised content and updates for *Dying Light 2 Stay Human* through 2027. It’s clear that this franchise, which started in 2015 with the creators of *Dead Island*, has a bright future planned.
