As a long-time fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, I am beyond excited for the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and its unique take on romantic relationships. Having two protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, adds a fresh perspective to this beloved franchise.
In the Assassin’s Creed series, there have been numerous romantic stories and character interconnections. However, the latest installment, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, presents something new due to its dual protagonists – the way romance unfolds will be unlike anything players have encountered before.
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Naoe and Yasuke’s relationships with various characters, both romantic and platonic, will add a distinct and intriguing layer to their stories, showcasing a range of connections beyond traditional same-sex bonds.
Naoe And Yasuke Get Their Own Individual Romantic Relationships
Based on information from YouTuber JorRaptor, who had a conversation with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla associate narrative director Brooke Davies, Naoe and Yasuke are expected to develop deeper relationships with various characters in the game. This suggests that there may be new side characters yet to be introduced, which could potentially be revealed only upon the game’s release.
To provide more clarity on this topic, Davies clarified that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is unlike a dating simulator game. Instead, it offers the opportunity to build deeper and long-lasting relationships. Additionally, there will be lighter romantic encounters as well during their journey through Japan.
In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, Naoe and Yasuke can form romantic relationships with characters of the same sex. However, if you were anticipating Yasuke wearing a hood in the game, I have some disappointing news. According to Davies, “Yasuke with a hood? That would be cool. I don’t believe we have a hood for Yasuke. He is more the samurai type and he prefers his helmet.” This might be disheartening for Valhalla fans who had asked for the option to keep the hood on during combat, which was eventually implemented, so perhaps this feature may be introduced in due time for Yasuke as well.
As a gamer, I was thrilled to learn about the dynamic weather system in Shadows: Awakening from Davies. Unlike in previous Assassin’s Creed games where we could alter the seasons and time of day through meditation, this time around, the seasons will shift naturally both before and after major missions, as well as while roaming the open-world of Japan. Additionally, there is a continuous clock ticking away in the background, so the passage of time will dictate the changing of the seasons based on how long we spend exploring this beautiful land.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches later this year on October 15 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
