Spawn is Coming Back to Mortal Kombat, But Not MK1

Highlights

  • The popular character Spawn is being added to Mortal Kombat Mobile.
  • Spawn will appear in the mobile title as Tormented Soul Spawn, a Diamon Tier, Nomad Class character who wields the power of Necroplasm.

As a long-time fan of both Mortal Kombat and Spawn, I am beyond excited about the latest addition of Todd McFarlane’s iconic anti-hero to Mortal Kombat Mobile. Having grown up with Spawn’s brutal yet compelling backstory from the comics, I was thrilled when he made his first appearance as a guest character in Mortal Kombat 11. But as someone who also spends countless hours on Mortal Kombat Mobile, I can’t help but feel elated that Spawn is now joining the roster of this beloved mobile game.

In an exciting turn of events, the iconic character Spawn from the “Mortal Kombat” series is set to make a comeback. However, this time, he will be appearing in “Mortal Kombat Mobile,” instead of the main Mortal Kombat game. Throughout the years, NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat games have introduced special guest characters from various sources such as comics, films, and other video games. Notable examples include PlayStation-exclusive Kratos in Mortal Kombat 9 (2011), and more recently, Omni-Man, Peacemaker, and Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1.

Todd McFarlane’s iconic anti-hero, Spawn, boasted an impressive gaming background prior to his appearance as a downloadable guest fighter in Mortal Kombat 11. He had previously featured in Soulcalibur 2 on Xbox. In Mortal Kombat 11, Spawn remained true to his brutal undead soldier persona, wielding the power of the underworld. Keith David reprised his role from the HBO Spawn animated series of the 1990s for this version. Later, Spawn made an appearance as a playable skin in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. However, Mortal Kombat fans have been eagerly anticipating his comeback to their beloved fighting game franchise.

As a big fan of Mortal Kombat Mobile, I’m thrilled about the latest summer update that brings “Tormented Soul Spawn” as a new Diamond Tier, Nomad Class character. This menacing figure wields the formidable power of Necroplasm, much like in Mortal Kombat 11. I can’t help but feel a chill down my spine as I imagine the demonic attacks he unleashes on his enemies.

Spawn Returns In Mortal Kombat Mobile’s New Summer Update

In the latest version of “Mortal Kombat Mobile,” Spawn makes his entry, accompanied by numerous other demonic trials and rewards. The Hellspawn Tower event runs from July 17 to August 28, enabling players to face off against evil adversaries such as Boss Tormented Soul Spawn and Scorpion’s “Hellspawn” version. By conquering these opponents, players can obtain unique Hellspawn Tower-themed gear. For those seeking a greater challenge, the Fatal Hellspawn Tower will be accessible from July 24 to August 21. By participating in this event, gamers can enhance their chances of unlocking coveted Diamond characters like Tormented Soul Spawn or Circle of Shadow Nightwolf.

In the latest update of “Mortal Kombat Mobile,” there are several non-evil perks. New Friendship and Brutality actions have been introduced for characters such as Kano and Kenshi. Additionally, Fusion Up cards enable users to merge fighters and accessories. As a reward for logging in between July 25 and July 29, players receive the “Spawn Goes to Con” bundle, which unlocks distinct Equipment, K7-Leetha, 100 Souls, and 50 Dragon Krystals. Towards the end of the year, Kenshi from “Mortal Kombat 1” will join “Mortal Kombat’s” mobile adaptation, with his cousin Takeda set to appear as a DLC character in “MK 1.”
