Team Cherry has released a new update, Patch 2, for *Hollow Knight: Silksong*. This update addresses several bugs and makes small improvements to the game. Players who experienced issues after the first patch should find these fixes helpful, as many problems have now been resolved.
After about seven years in development, *Hollow Knight: Silksong* launched on September 4th and quickly became incredibly popular. In its first week, over 5 million people played the game on all platforms, with Steam accounting for over 3 million sales. The game, created by Team Cherry, was such a success that several online stores experienced problems during its release, and it has already earned over $50 million.
Team Cherry continues to refine *Hollow Knight: Silksong* with the latest update, Patch 2, now available for all players. This patch fixes over a dozen bugs, including dialogue errors and issues with boss behavior. While most players will appreciate the fixes, some are disappointed that Cogflies were made weaker – they no longer regain full health when moving between areas. The Simplified Chinese translation issues haven’t been resolved yet, but Team Cherry’s Matthew Griffin says a fix is coming in the next few weeks.

The next update for *Hollow Knight: Silksong* probably won’t change the game’s difficulty much. The first update focused on making the early parts of the game easier by weakening some bosses like Moorwing and Sister Splinter, reducing damage from enemies like Sandcarvers, and making other adjustments that players liked.

Although *Silksong* is highly anticipated, some players have expressed concerns about its difficulty, and a recent update didn’t fully resolve those issues. This feedback prompted the developers at Team Cherry to discuss the game’s challenge in a recent interview. They explained that Hornet, the new main character, is naturally faster and more skilled than the Knight from the previous game. As a result, enemies had to be more complex and intelligent to provide a balanced challenge for players who are now more capable. The team also pointed out that players can overcome the difficulty by exploring the game world and mastering Hornet’s abilities.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Update 2 Patch Notes (September 23, 2025)
We’ve added a Dithering option to the advanced video settings (on PC only). This helps reduce noticeable color banding in videos, though it might make objects in the foreground appear a little softer. It’s turned off by default.
We’ve clarified the ‘Herald’s Wish’ achievement description. Now it clearly states that you need to both fulfill the wish *and* finish the game to earn it.
– Fixed Savage Beastfly in Far Fields sometimes remaining below the lava.
– Fixed rare cases of Shrine Guardian Seth getting out of bounds during battle.
– Fixed rare case of Second Sentinel knocking the player out of bounds during battle.
– Added catch to prevent Lugoli sometimes flying off screen and not returning during battle.
We’ve made it even less likely for Silk Snippers to get stuck outside the playable area during the Chapel of the Reaper fight.
We fixed several issues where players were unexpectedly dying to bosses, even after defeating them. This caused the death animations to play incorrectly or at the wrong time.
– Fixed Shaman Binding into a bottom transition causing a softlock.
– Cocoon positions in some locations updated to prevent it spawning in inaccessible areas.
– Fixed Liquid Lacquer courier delivery not being accessible in Steel Soul mode.
– Fixed some NPCs not correctly playing cursed hint dialogues in certain instances.
– Fixed Pondcatcher Reed not being able to fly away after singing.
– Fixed Verdania memory orbs sometimes replaying layered screen-edge burst effects.
– Fixed the break counter not working for certain multihitter tools eg Conchcutter.
– Fixed Volt Filament damage multiplier not applying for certain Silk Skills.
– Fixed Cogflies and Wisps inappropriately targeting Skullwings.
– Fixed Cogflies incorrectly resetting their HP to full on scene change.
– Fixed Curveclaw always breaking on the first hit after being deflected.
– Fixed Plasmium Phial and Flea Brew sometimes not restoring as intended at benches.
– Various other smaller tweaks and fixes.
