A player who bought the game *Redfall* recently received a refund for the downloadable content (DLC) called ‘Bite Back,’ even though the game and its developer stopped being supported over a year ago. *Redfall*, a team-based vampire shooter published by Bethesda, was widely considered a failure, and Xbox halted development on it only a year after it launched. Despite the game being discontinued for a long time, some players are only now getting their money back for the canceled DLC.
When it first came out, the game received negative reviews from both players and critics, who criticized its flawed artificial intelligence and poor-quality cinematic scenes. Despite attempts to fix these issues, player numbers remained low. In May 2024, Xbox decided to stop developing Redfall and closed the Arkane Austin studio responsible for the game. This also meant canceling any planned downloadable content, and while refunds were offered, it took some time for players to receive them.
Redfall Player Receives Physical Refund Check a Year After DLC’s Cancellation
A Reddit user named WestDraw3952 recently shared that they received a refund for the game *Redfall* in the form of a physical check – over a year after the game’s planned DLC, Bite Back, was canceled. Refunds started being issued in June 2024, about a month after Bethesda promised compensation to players who purchased the DLC. It appears these initial refunds were digital only, leaving players who bought physical copies – and potentially paid with cash – without an easy way to receive their money back. WestDraw3952 isn’t the only one experiencing this delay, as another commenter reported receiving a check in the mail recently as well.
This isn’t the first time the *Redfall* game has faced significant delays. Even before the studio developing it closed, the promised Bite Back DLC wasn’t released a year after the game launched, leaving some players who paid extra for it feeling shortchanged. Ultimately, the DLC never came out. However, after a long wait, some players are finally receiving the $30 they were owed as a refund.
Although its initial release was a failure and getting refunds was slow, *Redfall* might still be enjoyable. The developers have stopped actively updating the game, but they did release one final patch that included an offline mode before ending support. Recently, at least one player said *Redfall* is now worth playing, as the patches and bug fixes addressed many of the original complaints.
