Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree: Best New Fist Weapons, Ranked

As a seasoned adventurer who has spent countless hours exploring the sprawling lands of Elden Ring, I can confidently say that each weapon, no matter how unassuming, holds its unique charm and potential. And among these hidden gems, fist weapons have always intrigued me with their raw power and versatility.

In various FromSoftware RPGs, you’ll find that several types of weapons recur frequently. This is nothing new for role-playing games. In Elden Ring, an abundance of weapons await players to use. Recently, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC added even more options to this already extensive collection.

In “Shadow of the Erdtree,” the expansion for Elden Ring, there’s an increased selection of melee weapons based on fists. These weren’t as prevalent in the original game. However, with this expansion, more fist weapons have been added. Although they still represent a smaller portion of the overall weaponry, players now have more choices at their disposal. Some resemble the initial fist weapons from Elden Ring, while others offer unique combat mechanics against enemies. Here’s a list of some top-notch fist weapons that can be obtained in the expansion.

6 Poisoned Hand

A Good Weapon To Increase General Damage

  • Location: Belurat, Tower Settlement, at the sewer level.

Weapons like the Poisoned Hand don’t gain their power solely from the harm they cause directly, but instead from the additional impacts they have on their targets.

From a fan’s perspective, I wouldn’t call the Poisoned Hand my go-to weapon for causing harm to others. But, interestingly enough, this name holds some truth – it can actually poison enemies. Each hit infuses them with a tiny dose of venom. When this poison builds up enough, it amplifies the Poisoned Hand’s attack power. This effect can be combined with other items that share similar properties, like the Kindred of Rot’s Exultation and the Mushroom Crown, turning the Poisoned Hand into a formidable support weapon for enhancing my offensive capabilities.

5 Madding Hand

Another Option For Inflicting Madness

  • Location: The Abyssal Woods, south of the Woodland Trail Site of Grace.

Among all the game statuses, madness can be an extremely effective weapon to employ, and the “Madding Hand” provides an additional means for players to induce it. This weapon accumulates madness not only through regular strikes but also via its Ash of War ability.

From my perspective as a fan, I’d say: The Maddening Talisman’s grip isn’t the strongest since it remains in my hand. Yet, it dishes out reasonable damage. It performs admirably in PvE content, but truly shines in player versus player (PvP) battles. Each Ash of War attack it unleashes can deal massive harm to the enemy. Additionally, it has a significant chance of inflicting a heavy dose of madness with just one usage.

4 Thiollier’s Hidden Needle

The Uncommon Weapon That Causes Sleep

  • Location: Obtained after completing Thiollier’s questline.

In Elden Ring, fists as weapons aren’t commonly used compared to other types, so equipping one with a distinctive status effect like inducing sleep makes it more noticeable. Sleep can be inflicted through various means, but there are only a few weapons capable of causing this effect. One such weapon is Thiollier’s Hidden Needle.

The range of the weapon isn’t the best, as it is essentially the same as the range of the player’s fists. However, it has good scaling in both intelligence and dexterity, with a C and B when fully upgraded respectively. It deals decent damage, but other fist weapons can outperform it. The specialty is its sleep build up and the Ash of War, which deals bonus damage to enemies who are asleep.

3 Golem Fist

Smashing Enemies With Heavy Fists

  • Location: Taylew’s Ruined Forge

In simpler terms, when wielding a weapon that relies on strength, you’ll inflict greater damage with each strike, but may not be able to attack as frequently as those who favor dexterity. For instance, the Golem Fist is an exceptionally powerful fist weapon due to its strength attribute.

As a seasoned adventurer with years of combat experience under my belt, I can attest to the surprising effectiveness of this seemingly unassuming weapon. Though it may not boast the raw power of the higher-tier strength weapons, its quickness and agility make up for it in spades. In my travels, I’ve encountered many a foe that could outmaneuver the slower, more cumbersome weapons wielded by less experienced combatants. But this weapon, when infused with a healthy dose of strength, allows me to keep up with even the nimblest of adversaries.

2 Dryleaf Arts

Using Martial Arts For Sick Attacks

  • Location: Obtained from Dryleaf Dane.

In the latest game, “Shadow of the Erdtree,” the martial arts weapons stand out with their flamboyant presentations. Drawing inspiration from “Sekiro,” gamers can now employ their bare fists to vanquish adversaries.

Players can deliver a sequence of punching moves instead of a physical fist weapon in the game, dealing significant damage to opponents. Agile characters will greatly benefit from learning the Dryleaf Arts, as these punches can compete with the might of conventional weapons. The attached Ash of War is an essential accessory; it unleashes an destructive blast around the user, inflicting heavy damage on enemies and granting them temporary hyper armor while charging it up.

1 Pata

A Long Reaching Fist Weapon

  • Location: Near the Church of Benediction, on a hanging body.

The major downside of fist weapons is their limited reaching distance since they are directly attached to the user’s fists. However, the Pata weapon offers a more comfortable solution with its extended blades that allow strikes against enemies from a greater distance.

Being an experienced adventurer and seasoned warrior, I’ve come across various weapons throughout my journeys, each with its unique characteristics. This particular weapon, with its ability to scale well with dexterity, truly resonates with me. Its potential to reach a B ranking when fully upgraded as a keen or quality weapon is a testament to the skill and finesse required to wield it effectively.
