As a long-time Minecraft fan and avid gamer, I have to admit that I was initially thrilled when I heard about the upcoming movie adaptation of my favorite game. Minecraft has been a significant part of my life for years, providing endless hours of creativity and entertainment. So, you can imagine my excitement when I first learned about the project back in 2012.
Images of the Minecraft film in production, featuring Jack Black, appeared online recently. These pictures have since been taken down, yet their release has left fans uncertain about the upcoming movie based on the beloved video game.
A report from VG247, based on an article in The Financial Times, shares that the production of the Minecraft movie has had a long history. As early as 2012, Mojang Studios began receiving proposals for a TV adaptation. However, they chose not to pursue it until a suitable concept emerged. Eventually, they teamed up with Warner Bros to produce a film instead. Shawn Levy was initially selected to direct the project.
Over the years, the project has had several different directors. Rob McElhenney, known for his role in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, was one of them. However, things have changed now. The movie is currently being filmed with Jared Hess as the director, and Jack Black is set to play the beloved character of Steve.
The filming for the movie concluded earlier this year, but aside from some debated AI photographs, not much has been revealed to the public. Fans are anxiously waiting for a trailer to catch their first glimpse of the upcoming production. Surprisingly, leaked images surfaced today, seemingly from an internal guide, which accidentally got made public. These images offer fans the closest look yet at Jack Black in his portrayal of Steve.
In this article, we won’t include the pictures due to copyright claims from Warner Brs. They’ve taken down any content featuring these images, making it clear they’re authentic. The photos depicted Jack Black in a sky-blue shirt and dark blue jeans, holding a stone pickaxe. Additionally, there were a mossy creature called a creeper and a pink sheep in the pictures.
On Reddit, several users have expressed criticisms regarding the design modifications. One individual remarked, “The creeper requires an update. The green, furry appearance no longer suits it.” Another user commented, “The sheep could benefit from a facelift. I’m undecided about JB being portrayed as a human. However, what would a realistic Steve represent?”
I’ve seen my fair share of disappointing design reveals, but these leaked images take the cake. The way these things are depicted just makes me cringe. And the creeper, oh boy, the creeper is a whole new level of ridiculousness! I mean, I get that they were trying to make the bee and sheep look realistic, but this isn’t it. It’s like watching a poorly executed puppet show. This is coming from someone who has spent hours playing games and appreciating good design. So, take it from me, this won’t be a movie worth watching, let alone one of the best in history.
