As a longtime Battlefield fan and avid gamer, I couldn’t be more thrilled with DICE’s announcement of continuous content updates for Battlefield 2042 beyond Season 7. After experiencing some initial struggles during the game’s launch, it’s been heartening to see how DICE has listened to player feedback and responded by adding new events, seasons, and improvements that have kept me engaged and excited.
After wrapping up the seasonal model for Battlefield 2042, DICE unveils plans for fresh events, content, and rewards throughout the remaining months of the year. Despite a rocky start, Battlefield 2042 has rebounded with improvements and new content added, revitalizing the game beyond DICE’s initial plan.
As a passionate fan of Battlefield 2042, I can tell you that the excitement surrounding the game reached an all-time high with the debut of Season 6: Dark Creations. This remarkable turnaround resulted in Battlefield 2042 shattering its previous concurrent player record on Steam, which was initially set back in 2021. To add fuel to the fire, a well-planned free to play weekend further boosted the game’s popularity. With Season 7 nearing its conclusion, DICE has announced their intention to keep delivering fresh content into the game, aiming to preserve this impressive momentum for the future.
As a long-time fan of the Battlefield series, I have to admit I was feeling a pang of sadness when I heard that Season 7 would be the last one for Battlefield 2042. I’ve spent countless hours playing this game with my friends, and the thought of moving on to the next title felt a bit premature.
What Are Vault Drops in Battlefield 2042?
In addition to unveiling events, DICE announced something called Vault Drops. These are prolonged periods where players can acquire exclusive Portal content for use in the main Battlefield mode, All-Out Warfare. Previously, DICE introduced Portal-exclusive weapons into Battlefield 2042. With Vault Drops, however, the studio is expanding this concept to include vehicles. Each drop will enable players to test and permanently unlock the content while providing Mastery, Attachments, and Universal skins. The launch of Vault Drops is scheduled for later in 2024, hinting at a long-awaited Portal vehicle joining All-Out Warfare.
Players are excited to carry on playing Battlefield 2042, but fans should stay alert for DICE’s upcoming Halloween event. Previously, players enjoyed the Dead Space crossover event, featuring unique free rewards and Isaac Clarke gear for sale in the game shop. In Outbreak mode, teams of four battle against hordes of enemies while holding objectives and eventually extracting. The success of this addition indicates that DICE may have some frightfully fun surprises in store for us during their Halloween-themed event later this year.
